Can I ask what crystal lite is? I've seen it mentioned a lot of times and we don't have it in the UK. I don't think we do anyway.
Crystal lite is a powder to stir into your water to flavor it... It does have sugar and calories in it.
Nothing beats puuuuure wataa!

It does not have sugar. There are five calories per serving - you can drink a pitcher and have consumed 1/4 the calories of a can of coke. Yes you can count it as water.
Oh sorry, I was mistaken.
When I am trying to drink more water I'll use a crystal lite to-go and put it in a 1.5 Liter bottle. This was it adds enough flavor and only 5 cals for 1.5 liter! Water gets old and sometimes a little crystal lite can go a loooong way. :) I count it in my water intake!
we dnt have that here, whats on the ingredents list?
Crystal Light Pink lemonade:
Citric Acid (provides tartness), Potassium citrate (controls acidity), Maltodextrin, Asparatame (sweenter), Magnesium oxide (prevents caking), conatins less than 2% of natural falvor, acesulfame potassium (sweetener), soy lecithin, artifical color, red 40 lake.
I copied it off of a container I just happen to have.

Plain water does get boring and I add one of the 2 go packets to large bottle of water too - I also enjoy the Sunrise CL the tangerine strawberry is very good and contains 100% of vit c in one 8 oz serving. Weight watchers says 1/2 of your water intake can be anything that is caffiene free. I drink 64 oz of water a day so feel having CL and my caffiene free diet sodas is justified.
Would this also hold the same for stuff like iced tea mix? I use Lipton's Green Tea w/Honey ice tea mix, and I account for the calories (etc) on my logs, however can I also count it towards a water for the day? I agree, just straight water, even ice cold (can't drink it warm - YUCK!) gets boring after a while.
Willow - is the ice te caffiene free? If its caffiene free then I would say yes if its not then no cuz caffiene is a diuretic and defeats the purpose.
ok cool.... didn't think of it in those terms... there's caffeine in it (never really thought to look until you said that), so that would be a 'no' I can't put it towards my water intake.
thanks for answering!!

Try mixing 1 tub of crystal light to 1 gallon of water instead 2 quarts like the package says. It gives you the flavor of the drink with out being overpowering.
I think that Crystal Lite should be counted in the water intake, because you are still drinking water you are just adding a drink mix to it, same with tea. The only thing I might consider not counting into your water intake is coffee, with a higher amount of caffeine then the rest. This takes away from your water intake, and if you drink 8 cups of coffee, it isn't the same as 8 cups of water.
I like crystal lite and other drink mixes because they taste pretty good, and I can drink a lot of them or even drink them faster then I would water. Drinking plain water I would drink 0-2 cups per day unless I force myself. With Crystal Lite I can surpass the 8 cups of water per day, and with only 5-10 calories per pack (2 cups), and 0 cals in other drink mixes I use it doesn't interfere with a diet or something, like pop would.
I wonder if pop is made with water, like is that one of the ingredients in it?.. hm.
sorry for the long post

omg double post, so sorry I would delete it if I could =(
Diet pop is almost all water. It would contain less than 2% of colorings, flavors, artifical sweetners, and lastly, preservatives.
ehh....I wouldn't count it as water, as it's not quite as good for you as water, but it's a lot better then drinking soda! ^^;;
WHile it is true that water flavored with Crystal lite can be counted as water intake, do not be fooled into thinking that Crystal lite has any fruit value
while minute maid does have a bit more sodium it does have some lemon in it

It has calories (I use the sugar free on the go crystal light), so I log it in with my caloric intake.
However, I also count it as my water intake as I do not drink any water through the day (it makes me gag).
I don't see how the Crystal Light would be any different from drinking plain water and then eating a little bit of the powder. Except that the powder alone would probably be nasty.
