cup noodles/ramen- what do you add in to make it healthier?
I already crumble up a very decent amount of tofu into it, but i was wondering what other ideas others may have? I was thinking off adding peas and carrots as well, but are there any other ideas? and to the people who add eggs, do you just put it in raw before you put it into the microwave?
i love cup noodles and am not giving them up! =D so share any ideas...
Are you talking about those instant romen noodles? If that is the case it's pretty much impossible to make them "healthier".
UD
Not exactly the same, but I put broccoli in my top ramen while it's cooking.
I would throw away the broth packet that comes in it. Flavor it with a good pasta sauce perhaps.
Or alternately, you might try ICBINB. I can't believe it's not butter spray. (On drained noodles) Chopped cooked chicken breast, drained english peas, or mixed veggies.
Or, if you just must have the broth. Throw away the packet and use a real broth that does not have as much fat and salt in it. Then you can make you any kind of noodle soup you like.
Beef broth and left over roast beef, veg-all. Chicken broth, left over chicken breast and broccoli. How about noodles and marinara and basil.
The noodles are good. About 221 calories a cup. And the possiblities are limitless as your imagination.
You know what might be really good? Stir fried shrimp and the cooked noodles that have been drained. Throw in a can of Chinese veggies and some soy sauce (watch your sodium). Mmmm.
If you are talking about ramen noodle packets: I cook them with extra water to dilute the seasoning, then drain the noodles and eat them over a green vegetable (cooked broccoli or spinach).
If you are talking about the noodles in a cup: I drain the fluid and eat it over vegetables. Granted I need an extra plate for that.
im not too concerned with sodium, haha, actually i could careless about sodium.. i am interested in seeing how i can make it more filling/hearty..
thanks to everyone who posted so far, ill be sure to try and check them out.. i have chicken bouillion cubes and i can use that instead of the packet =)

In Korea a lot of people add eggs to their ramen when they buy the packets and cook it on the stove. Just add it while it's cooking. I'm not sure how it would turn out with cup noodles. However, I've also never heard of anyone microwaving cup noodles.... you boil water and add it.

oh aha thats what makes cup noodles so convienient here in america, that you can easily microwave it for 3 minutes and have a meal or snack.. i tried the egg idea today for lunch and it tasted FANTASTIC!
does anyone know of any veggies that taste good with cup noodles?
Cup noodles are the same everywhere. I'm from the US and have eaten them in the US. However, I've never heard of microwaving them. You're supposed to boil the water separately.

im from cali and have never heard of anyone boiling the water and putting it into the cup... ive heard of people boiling it on the stove however.
I have added frozen mixed veggies - like California or Mediterranean Mix (don't know the brand), or peas, broccoli, etc. I know Ramen has lots of salt, but I like them, too.
