Curious About Green Tea
Hi everyone.
I'm curious if anyone has any information on green tea uses. I recall reading on AOL health once that about 250mg of green tea extract a day can actually help you feel a little fuller and work your metabolism harder. It did not say anywhere that it was a "cure all" diet pill, but simply something that could be added to a regime.
Unfortunately, when I google anything about green tea, I just come up on "PRO GREEN TEA, YAY, TAKE IT, YOU'LL LOSE WEIGHT, BUY IT HERE!!!!!!" websites. So, anybody have any personal experience with green tea? Any information out there on the web? I've taken two supplements of it today, and I'm obviously not expecting anything up front... except I'm a bit jittery so I may only take one tomorrow.
My weight loss is slooowwww but steady, and I'm fine with that, I'm not looking for a "skinny now" pill. :)
Thanks in advance and I look forward to discussions!
I am a green tea fanatic and its what I drink in the afternoons when I get the urge to snack and it fills me right up until dinner time. It's also the only tea I don't really feel the need to add any sugar too. Oh, and I drink the organic decaffeinated kind so I do get all jittery. So far it has really helped me stay under my daily allowance. Try it! It definitely doesn't hurt

Well, that is excellent advice! I should have specified though, that I am referring to the caspulated green tea extracts. :) I may have to pick up some actual tea though!
Hey StayintheNight, I was just thinking about the same thing. I don't know anything about green tea capsules but my friend is the manager at The Vitamin Shoppe and is real knowledgeable about all kinds of supplements so I'm going to ask her what she knows about it. I read in a book that green tea capsules are supposed to help flush toxins and fat from the body. I enjoy drinking green tea, but I have no idea how much you'd have to drink to get the equivalent of those green tea pills.
If you want to up your green tea intake, my favorite is Genmaicha, which has bits of roasted rice mixed in. It gives the tea a satisfyingly nutty taste, which is nice when you're not in the mood for the sometimes "grassy" flavor of straight up green tea. Some of the rice pops when they roast it and it looks like little popcorns in the tea, so cute! If you would like to try a bag, PM me your address and I'll send you a sample!
Just noticed a question about this in the "Ask Mary" section:
Tamajinn: thank you!
I've been doing it for a few days now and have definitely noticed a slight, SLIGHT decrease in my appetite. It seems to be helping stay fuller longer... although I haven't been taking it with a meal in the morning so I guess I should start doing that.
Thank you again :)
