Curious about Pollock recipe grading
I wondered why the recipe found at http://www.calorie-count.com/recipe/99043.htm l had such a bad rating (D+). I thought fish was a good, healthy food.

It says on the page "Bad points: contains alcohol." but I don't know if that is enough to give it a D.....
I saw that, but didn't think the little bit of alcohol would cause THAT much of a grade drop. If so, I wonder what it would be if the alcohol was left out??
I tried that and got a C......go figure.
The nutritional analysis on this site *hates* alcohol - to the point where it will give a low grade to something just because it contains vanilla extract. It's really quite ridiculous. If you want an accurate nutritional rating, enter the recipe without the white wine. The alcohol's going to burn off anyway, so it shouldn't make much difference.
I need to ask Erik about this. If I find out why that is, I'll post it here. I never pay attention to the grades for Recipes but I do look at the reason for the grade. I think we can all tell if something is not nutritious.
Thanks everyone...I guess I am NOT one of those people who can tell if something is nutritious! I always also thought fish was low in Cholesterol. Especially if grilled over a dry heat (like a George Forman). Yet Pollock is shown as having 46% of daily value?? I'm just a poor man trying my best to learn to cook healthy and diet too! I am skining and deboning my chicken, eating whole grains, eating more fish and STILL not sure I am doing it right :-( Dieting isn't like quitting cigarettes. There, each day you KNOW you are making progress. Yet with dieting, you can eat what you think is right, watch your portions, exercise, sweat, and see NOTHING!
