Curious about poop ;D

(I know this is gross, and I apologize beforehand Innocent

Have any of your eating habits ever affected your bathroom life?

When I had an minor E.D., I didn't poop a lot. And now, even though I've upped the cals and the BMI to healthy, I still don't poop that much! When I do, 70 % of the time it's just tiny little pellets. I read that constipation is a sign of a sluggish metabolism. What should I do?!

p.s. I eat apples and fiber cereal. And I try to drink at least 6 glasses of water a day. :p

Don't feel bad, I think everybody gets curious about their poop at one time or another! If you eat prunes or dried apricots that would help. Most dried fruit works. You could also get Metamucil wafers, they actually taste pretty good! I've had the apple and the cinnamon...I like the apple best.

Drink more water - a lot more! You are dehydrated. Also, taking Miralax (at the pharmacy, mixes with water) might help, it draws water to your bowels.

Make sure you're eating enough fats in addition to the above.

I agree that you're probably dehydrated.   When food is digested, it then works its way down your intestines.  There are many metres of intestine all folded up in your abdomen.  As the food slowly travels along the nutrients from that food are absorbed together with fluids.  So that when it reaches the other end it should be a firmish 'sausage' of waste products.

If you don't drink enough and if your food doesn't contain enough fluid then it starts out too dry and gets drier as it passes along the intestine.  What comes out of the other end looks like rabbit pellets if you're luck, nothing at all if it gets stuck (constipation)

To correct the problem drink a lot more water (2 litres a day as a starting point) and also make sure you're getting plenty of fibre-rich, water-rich foods... i.e plenty of fresh green vegetables (5-a-day) and fruits... to bulk up the stools.  High-fibre breakfast cereals don't contain much water.

Calories are not the only consideration... bulk in = bulk out.

Well, I have a slight lactose reaction. The only thing that makes me truly sick is straight milk, but if I have dairy, like a yogurt or some cheese, I go about an hour or so later. Really helps when things are slow, so I would add that but it may not be the same for everyone.

ETA: Im so proud of you for getting healthier though. Kudos Smile
