Curious question.
Hello. I just had a curious question. I'm trying to lose about 10 pounds. And I know that it's about calories in versus calories out and that it does not matter when you eat, but, how much.
Well, I go to college, so I have breakfest at about 7 am. I had about 200 calories for breakfast and didn't eat again until around 6pm. From 6 till now I have consmed about 1100 more calories.
So, my question is, yes I'm still within my calories range for the day, but, will the fact that I have consumed that much in one sitting and fee incredibly over full effect my weight loss? Or, since it is infact within what I burn a day, will it burn off by tomorow.
Any help/advice please and thank you.
It shouldn't.... But damn how do you survive during a day, aren't you starving?
UD
Nope, it doesn't matter when you consume your calories either. But wow, I agree with umney, I would be famished by dinner time.
Would it be possible to pack a bag of veggies and put some fruit in a bag, maybe a protein bar to get your through your day?
I go about nine hours without eating at work, but I bring bee pollen and chai seeds and take a small handfill a couple of times a night. It is usually busy and I do not have time to eat. This works for me. The bee pollen gives me energy and the chai seeds fill me up with a glass of water.
Something I did in highschool was hardly eat during the day. Think it was one of the thing that contribited to me gaining weight. What I was doing was heading into a rehearsal room at about 9am and I would get so into my work that I could come out at 5pm and get my butt kicked by one of the teachers (now friend) because I hadn't eaten all day. Adventurly got to the stage when he was coming in about 1pm and kicking me out for an hour or so to go and get some dinner. On the days that I didn't eat during the day I would go home and raid the fridge before and after my evening meal. Within a year I went from my skinny size 14 jeans to my not so skinny 16s and have struggled to get it back off. My advice basically is always take something in with you even if it's just a ham sandwich or something like that. It also helps your concerntration because your brain has something to run on.
but, I am not "raiding" or anything. and I'm still within my range. Is it still possible that weight could come on even when I am eating the amount I should be.
Yes.... what everyone's trying to tell you is that irregular eating patterns are a factor in weight-gain. I know a lot of people that 'eat like a bird' all day... skipping meals, nibbling the odd snack, not having much for breakfast etc.... chow down a very large meal in the evening and then wonder why they're getting fat.
Weight aside, there's also the matter of 'good health'. It's not so good for the body or brain to run on empty all day and then be overloaded with food not that long before sleeping. You can get digestion problems, sleep problems, mood-swings ... all kinds of minor niggles.
If this is a one-off it's not an issue. But if it happens regularly, it can become a problem. So if you can organise your day so that you eat more regularly (Breakfast, lunch, supper, some light snacks) you'll probably find you have a more consistent energy level all day, that you'll be better able to concentrate and that you will be able to control your weight better at the same time.
Good luck
jenny12386 is right about concentration, as is gi-jane about mood swings. being a college student myself, im guessing you've got quite a lot of studying to do and classes to be in and there's no way you can have full concentration when you haven't eaten. in my own experience, if i don't eat i feel a major slump. and it doesn't feel good. take our advice, eat little and often and you will feel better.
Are you losing weight? If you are losing weight by doing this, then it probably works for you. It did not work for a friend of mine and I. We were both only eating lunch, usually fast food and usually well over 1000 calories per meal. She got diabetes and I did not lose weight, may have even gained weight, but certainly did not lose weight.
Hmm...I don't know if I agree with everyone else.
I pretty much don't eat at all during the day. Usually a coffee, and sometimes a piece of toast before class so my stomach doesn't cause a scene.
I start eating at 7-9 at night, depending on the day. I'd say I get the bulk of calories in before midnight. I go to bed around 4am and get up around 10 or 11...so my sleeping patterns aren't great either.
This hasn't caused me any problems concerning weight gain. I've actually lost weight eating like this.
