Curse sugarfree candy! *shakes fist*
Ok well not really. heh
But I ate a whole bag of them and now I am confined to the bathroom all night.
Is this normal? It has happened a few times before, but to other people react "this way" to overeating on these candies? And why does/ is this happening?
*blush*
=)

Oh, I know EXACTLY what you mean. And it seems like I have some brain fart everytime it happens, so that the next time I'm met with wonderful-looking sugar-free gummy bears, I totally forget that I can't have them.
Weird, because it wasn't always like this. And SUCKS, because I love candy!
sugar-free candy, like sugar free gum, is often sweetened with sorbitol. It is known to have laxative properties, as do most artificial sweeteners when consumed in large amounts.

We call sugar free candy its correct name: Ex lax. Malitol does the same thing. Two little pieces in me creates a bang bang!! effect- makes my hubby swear he is going to move out. I am a sugar holic so I eat regular candy but much less of it.
yeah because no sugar means sugar alcohols which has a laxative effect on the body. Had the same problem when I ate a whole pint of bluebell no sugar added ice cream.
This was just in the news... Like 2 people in Europe (Germany, I think it was) DIED because they chewed so much suger free gum on a daily basis, which contains sorbitol. I'm not sure on the exact reason why (can you die of excessive diahrrea???)...but yeah. Weird. Watch out for that stuff..
if you're not restoring your balance, electrolytes, fluids etc you're putting yourself at risk BIG time which obviously could lead to death-that's why dehydration is such a scary thing because your body shuts down if it doesn't have fluids..you can go longer without food than you can water.
