Hi all,
I just joined this site, as it seemed to have the best and easiest to use recipe nutrition calculator. So I entered one of my recipes and fiddled around with some of the numbers to see how I could adjust it for different variations to try the next time I made it. I wanted to save it just for myself since it is untried, but there it is showing up in a search.
I'd hate to have someone else make the recipe expecting certain results and have it be a disaster. I suppose I could delete it, I would like to save the different versions for myself so I can experiment with different variations in amounts and ingredients. There must be a way to do this that I'm just not seeing.
Um, you could put a note in the description that it is a trial recipe, or an untried recipe, so that anyone who DOES open it up sees easily that it might not work. Other than that, I don't know of a way to keep it out of the database.
Did you click on "Remove from Browser" ? That would remove it from the search data base. If you didn't, do it.
If you did click on that, then please let me know so I can report the glitch.
Hmmm...I don't see an option to Remove From Browser. Where would I find that?
Let me look into it. It might be that it's an administrative function that I can see because of my moderator status. In any event, we'll try to help you with this. I want to be sure we can reinstate if once you get it cleaned up.
Meanwhile, I'd follow the suggestion to make a comment in the heading that it's a recipe in progress and is not reliable yet.
Have you tagged this recipe so you can find it yourself again? If so, I can ask Erik to take it off the browse list.
Thanks.
Instead of tagging it, I just look under My Recipes, and they're right there.
Maybe I'm not using this site as it was meant to be used. I was just looking for a way to adjust and create different variations of some recipes in hopes of coming up with a couple of combinations that provide the best nutrition values for me. For example, I'd like to see the difference if I replace sugar with Splenda, or replace bananas with blueberries, milk with yogurt, etc.
While I have no objection to sharing, I figure it's best if I play the Guinea pig without jeopardizing others people's taste buds. ![]()
It's not really a problem. There are thousands of recipes in the database that are incorrect. That yellow triangle that appears in the nutrition box is your clue that some of the ingredients have not been figured in. It's up to the reader to realize that.
As for instructions - I just love the ones where the instructions say "mix and cook" or "cook and eat," or, "see cookbook." There are no real rules, just guidelines.
I can't tell you how refreshing it is to see someone working to get it right!
