how to cut back on sugar?
Hi everyone, I need some substitutes for eating snacks that don't include sugar. That is all I eat!!! I have been known to eat an entire box on chexmix bars in one day! I know that sugar is my main problem when it comes to being "skinny fat" I just don't have any other ideas that sound good to me for snack instead of eating sugar. I do like fruit but don't always eat it before it goes bad. Any other suggestion? I would love your ideas on snacky foods that are portable and dont contain much sugar if any at all. Also, breakfast foods that are portable and go along with my coffee, another bad habbit but I am trying to break one at a time... ha ha. Hope you can help!
Thanks in advance
,Amy

Fruit has alot of sugar!-so if you are trying to cut back on sugar fruits are not the best snack to have.
For snacks: I reccomend a hard boiled egg, celery sticks, tuna mixed with some dijon mustard and celery, yves veggie dogs only have 1 g of sugar and 9 grams of protein so wrapped in some lettuce they are a great snack!
Breakfast: you could make a morning breakfast burrito using egg whites, a whole grain wrap and some lean meat, im not too good with portable foods but you could also make mini quiche like muffins or another low fat breakfast type muffin.
thanks, i love the mini quiche idea! Any other ideas anyone?
I think that sugar in the form of fruit is much better for you than processed sugar--you can easily take dried fruit anywhere, or Larabars, which are only made with fruit and nuts. I like whole-grain crackers with hummus or a little cheese. If you're just feeling "snacky," popcorn is my standby, and nuts in the shell are healthy and time-consuming, so you feel you've snacked for a decent length of time without eating very many nuts. As far as breakfast, I find a whole-grain toast and pb sandwich to be portable enough for me. Leahh has great ideas, too--most anything with protein will keep you satisfied longer.
Do not cut back on fruit it is good for you and you need 2-3 servings of it daily. Do however cut back on simple sugars, like candy, sugar, and white bread. If your going to eat sugar make it natural sugars, such as from fruit, and milk. Of course the occasional piece of candy wont ruin all your weight loss efforts either. I like to have string cheese as a snack its very satisfying and only 80 calories.
