Cut yourself slack when you're pms-ing?

Quote  |  Reply

I just am soo hungry when I'm pms-ing, and have intense cravings.  Then I eat, and feel absolutely terrible about it, because, I'm pms-ing.  How terrible. haha.  I try to not be too hard on myself though!

How do all of you manage it?

Me too!I guess it's biological. We have to have plenty of fat and nutrients at that time. It's almost uncontrolable , I know! Sometimes I have it under control and mostly I cave (just a little.) The weird thing is that even when I've had 1200 calories on other days and I'm up really late and starving, I can control myself much easier than on THOSE days! I feel awful when I go over the calorie intake but, I have lost weight after sitting at a plateau for weeks the day I overate. So, it might not be that bad to have a few extra calories a couple days out of the month.

CHEW GUM!!! it's a lifesaver.

I drink tea and chew gum, stupid menstruation. Before I actually started keeping an eye on mine and predicting when it would come, I had no idea why I was getting so emotional and hungry and fat (I was like "well, you've gained two pounds, body, why don't you survive on that")

But I agree with what lolita342 said. If anything, view it as a metabolism kick opportunity.

Yessss im always a little relaxed when im PMSing. also because nothing really digests when i have my period im not sure why but im like "eh what i ate before doesn't count so i can eat this"

Gum, coffee, and puzzles get me through! haha

And I just have to say, when I read your title I missed a very important word and FREAKED OUT for a sec!  I thought it said 'Cut yourself when you're pms-ing?'

Haa...

We actually burn more calories during the week leading up to ttom, increased body temperature, things movin around inside and yada yada....so naturally we need these extra calories.

I'm not saying to go and binge like crazy and eat like 800 calories in chocolate or french fries....but it's safe to say that allowing yourself about 200-300 extra calories a day, for the few days leading up to your period wouldn't be detrimental.

Um sorry to burst all your bubble, but PMSing is not ToTM. PMS stands for Pre-menstrual syndrome, which is when girls have mood swings and the likes Before or after (same thing) having their periods.

When I have it, I usually don't exercise as much because I'm always tired. Even more tired than when I'm completely normal. My sleeping schedule is quite terrible at the moment.

What does ToTM stand for?

If you were referring to what I said...I didn't say "ttom" (that time of the month), I said, "the few days leading up to ttom", which would be the week before your period...the time you are pms-ing :)
