17, 5', CW:113, GW:90, female, buddy?
Hi, i'm looking for a buddy with the same stats who i can rely on to keep in touch. i am a serious ballet dancer and i know my goal weight is very low to some, but it is necessary.
gender: female
age: 17
height: just under 5'
CW: 113
GW: 90
if your stats match up and you relate, send me a message! i'd love to have a buddy!
PLEASE LOCK THIS POST!! IT PROMOTES EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY GOALS AND SHOULD NOT BE RESPONDED TO.
YOUR GOALS PUT YOU IN AN UNDERWEIGHT CATEGORY. AT 113 YOU ARE AT A HEALTHY WEIGHT AND 90 POUNDS WOULD NOT BE HEALTHY. FOCUS ON FITNESS!!
why do you want to be underweight?????? seriously, just aim for healthy goals instead of wanting to look like a stick.
i know this goal seems very low and i know i am currently at a normal weight, but i need to be underweight for my ballet and i am very short, so 90 probably seems like less than it is to someone who is taller.
Everyone calm down! Please!
I entered her goal into the BMI Calculator for children here:http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html.
I quote, "A 60 inch tall, 90 pound girl has a BMI of 17.6, which is at the 8th percentile for this age. Although BEING THIN FOR THIS GIRL CAN BE PERFECTLY NORMAL , the girl can be at risk of becoming underweight."
Being 17 (I'm 16), I believe us older teens have enough common sense to know our boundaries. I also know some people that are dancers and are very small but eat healthily and look healthy. Just be cautious when you are losing the weight. If you are losing and decide you are becoming too skinny, up your goal a few pounds. Don't let anyone tell you what you should weigh unless there is really something severely wrong with your goal weight. Just remember to eat at least I'd say 1800-2000 calories to lose weight if you are moderately active. I wish you luck.
hey, thanks for the support. i hate how everyone freaks out. i didn't decide ballet dancers had to be underweight! i'm not trying to be anorexic or anything. i posted this to find support, not to be criticized. so send me a message if you want to maybe keep in touch and support each other! i'm trying to get as many buddies as i can!

really, try and do a bit of research before telling others to calm down. i'd agree with you if she were planning on MAINTAINING her NATURALLY underweight body through healthy means since as a 17 year old that low of a weight isn't necessarily underweight. however, she plans on starving herself on 1000-1200 calories a day, and that is UNHEALTHY!! 90 would only be healthy for someone of her height if it were their natural weight but clearly it isn't hers and she's trying to maintain an anorexic weight through unhealthy means,
did someone tell you that you had to be 90 pounds or did you just pick some number? I think we should know some more information before everyone freaks out.
two years ago, i was an inch shorter and weighed 84 pounds and my weight was approved of. since then with stresses and other stuff, i've gained 30 pounds and am very unhappy with my weight. i've decided since i've grown an inch since then, i'd add five pounds to my goal and then added one more just to make it even. and based on my research, 90 pounds would be a high weight for a serious professional ballet dancer of my height.
and to chrissy1988, once i get down to 90, i will bump my caloric intake back up and maintain my weight there. this website told me i should eat around 1200 calories to lose the weight.
thanks for the concern everyone, but i'd like someone who can help me get to my goal, not just debate if it is healthy or not. i am fully aware it is very low for a normal person, but it is necessary.
well srry for the freaking out, i didn't know u had to b underweight for ballet... good luck losing weight cause i never have luck :(
debating whether it's healthy or not is rather important if you plan on using this website to reach your goal. It doesn't matter why you need to lose it or what your plans are then, CC does not support unhealthy eating habits and weight goals.
If you don't want this to be an issue with everything you post, I recommend upping your goal to 95-100 lbs and seriously considering the wealth of health information held by many members of CC. They aren't 'just freaking out' they're trying to help.
Hey. So I am 19 and 5 ft and I weight 108. I totally understand about the need to be ultra thin because of ballet, I was a competitive figure skater, just stopped last year. I think that you should be at least 95 pounds. Remember that two years ago for you was when you were 15. Of course you gained weight, you grew an inch in height but also you are growing into a woman, which means more hips and thighs.
Also ballerinas need to be skinny, but they also need to have the energy to move. So even if you get down that low you might not even be able to dance which would be defeat all the weight loss.
Also one you get to that low weight, since it isn't natural for you, you will gain all the weight back and then some the minute you start eating a more healthful diet.
So what I think you should do is cut back a bit on calories and see where it gets you, make sure to eat very healthly clean foods, and exercise a bit more but not excessively. See what happens. Remeber that your body does have a comfortable weight and 90 some pounds may not be it.
thanks for the advice. i'll take that into consideration. i think i'll just see where this gets me and reevaluate every couple pounds or so once i reach 95, maybe even 100. thanks again :)
Hey lofudge13!
I've been looking for a buddy too, here are my stats I think we match up pretty well!
Age: 15 (I think I lied on my account, oops)
Height: Just under 4' 11" (Verrry short)
CW: 108
GW: 88-95
I don't think 90 is too harsh a number, 95 may be a tad bit healthier though ;)
I would love love love to have someone with similar stats to relate to! Sorry I don't do ballet, but I did dance for a while if that counts!
=nvm, OP changed her mind on the weight=
LOLA RIVERA AND POSTERS WHO ARE ATTEMPTING UNDERWEIGHT GOALS,
Based on your age, height and weight, your goals will put you into the category of underweight for your age and will probably put your still-growing body in jeopardy.
Here's what I'd like you to do:
Firstly, I'd like you to go talk to your parents. You need them in on this. You are only 15 years old and you need nutrients, at 4'11 and 108 pounds you are perfectly healthy. 88 pounds would require you to restrict your body of essential nutrients and is not recommended at all.
I'd like to see you and your parents go through the following sites:
- http://www.kidsnutrition.org/bodycomp/bmiz2.h tml
- http://www.eatwell.gov.uk/asksam/healthydiet/ healthyweightq/ #A220129
- The Body Neglected
- Nutrition & Health for Teens
- Dieting & Metabolism
These sites will help you and your family understand what you need to live and be healthy.
You need to understand that this site is not really appropriate, at this stage, for teenagers. The site tools are meant for adults, and not children. For children, sites likehttp://www.kidsnutrition.org/ are much more appropriate. They can tell you how many calories you should be eating, along with how much you should be weighing.
If you continue to post unhealthy goals your posts will be subject to removal.

I'm 17, 5'0.
Weigh quite a bit more though. Hahaha.
I've always been raised by this rule:
When you're 5'0, 100 pounds is good.
For every extra inch, add five pounds.
100 is a much more healthy goal.
And yes, I understand you want to take your ballet into account, but please hear me out. I've seen a lot of ballerinas. You guys are absolutely JACKED. It's going to be extremely hard to get down to your goal weight because you are extremely muscular. From what I understand, you need a lot of muscle to be really good at dance. You cannot maintain this muscle if you just desperately try to lose weight. I've had to do this for soccer.
My advice is to diet lightly and work out until you look good, dance well, and feel great- screw the number.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
Take the Diet Profile Test and learn to avoid the pitfalls and self-sabotage that often come with your personal profile.
