Cycling class everyday?

Quote  |  Reply

This past week I started attending cycling class at my gym.  even though it was tough at first I am really enjoying the class.  It is really the only exercise I have been getting.  I am watching my calories and know that I need to lose weight.  I am not concerned with toning until the weight comes off.

Here's my question...Is it ok to go to cycling class everyday(as long as my body isnt too sore)?

You can do cardio daily. Strength training on the other had should be done every other day since muscles need 48 hours to recover.

If the instructor varies each class I suppose that's fine, but you really ought to vary your workouts, otherwise your body will get too used to what you're doing and won't work as hard during the workout.   By switching it up, your body will always be kept on its toes, so to speak. :)  Also, if you're looking to lose fat, you REALLY ought to do weight training.

For 2 months I did 5 classes/wk plus strength training and was in the best shape of my life.

What I like most about spinning is how much the workouts vary.  Each instructor is different.  It would take a much longer time for your body to get used to a spinning class. If you use an elliptical for 30 min everyday on the same setting, yes your body will get used to it quick, but spinning classes can change so much from day to day I wouldn't worry too much about your body getting used to it.  A day off now and then is really all you need.

i spin everyday m-f and run on the weekends. i also strength train mwf and that has made a huge difference
