hey! i found these recipes on a website for kids with cystic fibrosis, so they are very dense/high calorie, and they looked pretty good! just wanted to share. hope this helps someone! ;)

Banana Bread

Prep time: 80 minutes

Ingredients:

1/3 c. butter, melted
1/3 c. light brown sugar
3 ripe bananas, mashed
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. milk
3/4 c. chopped walnuts

Directions:

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (176 degrees Celsius).
2.Mix above ingredients.
3.Pour batter in greased, 8-inch bread pan.
4.Bake for 1 hour. A toothpick inserted in the middle of the bread should come out clean.
Serves: 8

Serving size: one 1" slice

Macaroni and Cheese

Prep time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

6 c. water
1 (7.25 oz.) package of macaroni and cheese dinner
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp. skim milk powder
1/2 c. cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions:

1. Boil the water in a medium pan.
2. Stir in the macaroni.
3. Boil for 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Drain the macaroni and return it to the pan.
5. Add butter, whipping cream, skim milk powder, cheese, and cheese sauce mix (from the macaroni and cheese dinner package).
6. Reduce heat to low and mix well until the cheese has melted.

Serves: 3

Serving size: 1 cup

Milkshake

Prep time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

1 instant breakfast packet, any flavor
3/4 c. whole milk
1/4 c. heavy whipping cream
1/2 c. ice cream, any flavor

Directions:

1.Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
Serves: 1

Serving size: 1 1/2 cups

Dirt Pudding

Prep time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

1 c. whole milk

1 c. heavy cream

4.5 oz. package of vanilla instant pudding

3/4 c. dry milk powder

8 Oreo cookies, crushed

4 gummy worms

Directions:

1.Stir together milk and heavy cream.
2.With wire whisk, beat pudding mix and dry milk powder into milk and cream mixture for 2 minutes.
3.Stir in crushed Oreo cookies.
4.Immediately pour pudding into 4 6-oz. clear cups.
5.Put pudding into the refrigerator. Pudding will be soft-set and ready to eat within 5 minutes.
6.Serve with a gummy worm on top.
Serves: 4

Mashed Potatoes

Prep time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

2/3 c. water

2/3 c. heavy cream

1/4 tsp. salt

2 tbsp. butter

2/3 c. mashed potato flakes

3 tbsp. sour cream

Directions:

1.Combine water, heavy cream, salt, and butter in a microwave-proof bowl.
2.Microwave on high setting for approximately 2 minutes. (All microwaves vary and heating times may need to be adjusted.)
3.Remove from microwave.
4.Stir in potato flakes to moisten.
5.Add sour cream and mix well.
Serves: 2

Ingredients:

4 slices whole wheat bread
1/4 c. peanut butter
2 tbsp. jelly
2 eggs
1/4 c. heavy cream
3 tbsp. butter

Directions:

1. Spread peanut butter on two slices of bread.
2. Spread jelly on the other two slices of bread.
3. Put one slice of each together to form sandwiches.
4. In a mixing bowl, lightly beat eggs and cream together.
5. Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat.
6. Dip sandwiches in egg mixture, coating well.
7. Place in skillet and brown both sides.
8. Serve immediately.

Serves: 2

Hehe! Seen that webpage before and have tried several of the recipes. They're good tasting and starightforward, but you can definately taste the richness so if you don't like the taste of cream and butter then they're less useful.

I however, don't mind and have found such recipes good for a fattening meal with small volume. x

have you tried the banana bread? i was interested in trying that one...

I haven't done that particular one but it's much the same as most other banana bread recipes in terms of cals. The best ways to up the cals in it are to put extra raisins, choco chips, or nuts in it, and my personal fave is to spread it with peanut butter or nutella! Please try it - you won't be dissapointed!

Also if you like oats, the oatmeal recipes good but i reccomend cooking with wholemilk, then stirring in some cream at the end and topping with whatever you like. The cream isn't high in calcium but milk is! x
