D.C. Meet-Up Oct 4-Let's Do the Zoo

Rats! Or maybe Kangaroo Rats, since it's Zoo Day! I woke up feeling rotten. I feel like a Nyquil commercial! No Zoo for me today - I'll have to meet y'all some other time. Kangaroo Rats!

I had a great time yesterday. It was great to meet Dee & Shizzi. I'm so happy I got to see Tai Shaun and up so close.

Sorry I missed you guys. I ended up running a bit late, having to wait 15 minutes for a train after just missing one pulling out of my station, so I didn't get to the zoo till about 20 after 10. Maybe next time. :)

Darn!!!  We were there at the entrance for quite awhile actually.  Next time, exchange cell numbers with someone who is going, if you have a cell.  That way we can hook up.  Shizzigirl didn't get there until an hour later, but we were able to hook up because she and HK had each others' numbers.  What a bummer!!!  I sure do hope to see you at the November meet-up!!!  We don't know what that will be yet, or when, but we are hoping to have one.

I had an awesome time at the zoo Saturday!!!  It was great hanging out at the zoo, and great hanging out at the restaurant.  It was awesome meeting Dee and Shizzigirl!  It was so cool that Tai Shan was so close to us!  It was also good that there were so many zoo volunteers who were out and about to give tidbits of information and answer questions.

Can't wait 'til the next one!!!  Woot!

"shizzigirl was an hour late" - that made me literally laugh out loud :)

I also had a great day meeting EVERYONE and of course seeing the baby panda so close (cue the 'awww's).

HK - that hummus has ruined me and I no longer look at my store bought stuff the same...great restaurant pick!

To anyone out there "nervous" about meeting up, HK, Kim, Kristine and Dee were so nice and welcoming that you should definetely think about coming to the next outing!

It was great meeting up at the zoo. I'm trying to figure out a place for the next meetup. I'll have an idea by the end of the week. Shizzigirl is right, that hummus was very good. I went to the shop the same day to get some and I must say it's just not the same. Anyway, I will post a few ideas and dates. Let me know what works best for everyone.

Hmm, I'll see if K is interested and let you know.  We're planning on going to the Zoo this Saturday since we weren't able to go last weekend.  On Sunday, we're taking J to Chuck E Cheese for a couple of hours.  At least, that's the plan, but you know what they say about making plans.

That looks cool.  Wonder what Dee will come up with.  She said she would have an idea by the end of the week.  Of course, this takes the pressure off her if she is amenable to the Newseum.  Richard has been a couple times.  He says it's really interesting.  Maybe I could cajole him into coming along too, with his gf.  We'll see.

I'm really up for just about anything in November.

Shnitzel, I was just now thinking about going to the zoo again this weekend!  lol  There is so much we didn't see the last time.  That zoo is pretty big.  I wonder if all zoos are hilly like that one.  I would think that they would keep predators and prey out of view of each other, but the cheetahs are right next to the zebras!!!  What a tease, eh?!

There is a petting zoo at the very bottom of the hill.  I think they call it "Kid Farm" or something like that.  You don't actually go into the enclosures, but you can pet the animals through the fence.  I think they even have hand wash stuff there if I'm remembering correctly.

LW, I don't think I've been through the entire Nat'l Zoo.  That's a lot of walking and yes, it is hilly.  Since we're driving, we plan on getting there fairly early Saturday morning.  We're supposed to have really nice weather this weekend, so if you're going and want to meet us there, then let me know.  I can PM you my cell number.
