I get so sad about eating anything that gets a grade below C... I even feel bad about eating those...

The average for the month is a B, but I still feel bad about the D's and C's I get from indvidual foods... Like peanut butter crackers get a D+ and the 100 Calorie packs get D's too.  Are they bad for me? should I not eat anything that gets a bad grade?

There are no 'bad foods' there are only 'bad diets'.  If your diet is generally good with plenty of fruit, vegetables and other wholefoods then it's fine to choose the occasional not-so-healthy from time to time.  So if you're averaging a B I'd say your diet was fairly good.

thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind.

I stopped paying attention to those grades months ago.

The reason for their low grades is because they have sugar, no nutritional content what so ever and they are just all around unhealthy - granted they have 100 calories, but that means nothing! They have no reason to be in your body! You should eat fruits & veggies as snacks, not packaged & processed foods like crackers & cookies!

I have to admit, I'm wondering what you're eating, to consistently get Ds and Cs. I've never scored less than a B, and it's not because I'm eating nothing but fruits and vegies or even focusing just on calories, but rather aiming for a healthy, balanced diet. For that, as giasbash said, I eat very little prepared/processed food (I prefer to make my own meals, they're lower-everything and healthier), and aim for a 50% carbs, 25% protein, 25% fat daily balance (or thereabouts!). It's not that hard to do. Perhaps focusing on the pie chart will help you get on track. It's a handy, simple tool that shows you the balance for the day. Also the info that pops up when you hover your mouse over the date at the bottom there gives you some good info on vitamins and minerals and such. Rather than feeling sad over the crap you're putting in your mouth, work on putting healthier stuff in there. After a while, you won't even want the D-grade foods anymore--really!

you have mis-read what I said mageeg...

I was just saying that the peanut butter crackers I ate made me sad.

My Daily average is usually an A or B!

I was feeling bad about the individual grades per food item.

I feel bad enough from the one bad grade during the day, I don't know what I would feel if my grade for the day was a D.

(I'm down 12.5 lbs since april 19th when I started calorie count! go me!)

Sorry if I misunderstood. Basically, if something makes you sad, try not to do it. I know that sounds too simplistic, but it's not, really. Case in point: I used to LOVE cheesecake--yup, a D food, big time. Now, just through changing my eating habits and striving for a healthier diet overall, I have no craving for cheesecake and often don't even think about ordering it at a restaurant, whereas I made sure to order it for dessert no matter what, before. Now I'd rather have roasted asparagus with a squirt of lemon juice instead of french fries. Stuff like that--after a while it comes natural. If I feel like Baked Cheetohs, I have a few, but not nearly as many as I used to, and I eat them knowing full-well that they're not good for me, so I just have to deal with that. I don't beat myself up over it. The 100-calorie packs of Doritos and such are still Doritos. They're still bad for you, there's just less of them. But if you're eating just a 100 calorie pack instead of a whole bag (hypothetically speaking), then I wouldn't feel sad, I'd be rather proud of exercising control. Especially if I'd lost 12 1/2 lbs in ten days! (Congrats!) It's taken me almost a year to lose 25...

I totally don't feel any different after loosing 12.5 lbs (mentally I'm very excited)

once I get down to 199 (or perhaps before then) I know the weight loss will slow down (trying not to live under dillusions of continuing the crazy weight loss) the body changes, and I will have to mix things up...

I've been having friends and relitives come over to clean out my cabnits from all the junk food I had piled up. (It sucks, I paid money for all the food I've been giving away)

A month ago all this health food would've killed me, but I realized that all the other foods I was eating was killing me...

Me too.

The grading system is too flawed for me to trust it to judge what's good for me and what's not.  I could eat lettuce all day and get an A, but I would really have a horrible diet lacking important vitamins and minerals, as well as vital fats and proteins.  Plus, it would be boring.

My advice is, don't feel bad about getting a low grade.  Do some research and judge, for yourself, what's really healthy for you.  Ignore the grades.
