Daily sodium intake

Quote  |  Reply

Hi I have a question...

What is the amount of sodium I should be having daily.... I read that the RDA is around 2400mg per day, but I also read in here that some members are mad about themselves for taking 1500mg of sodium.

My average intake is 1002mg daily...

I'm confused..... whats the right thing about sodium to do?

And another question...since I'm relatively new I don't know is there anyway to see my inteke of Iron per day, since I have anemia, and I would like to see how much Iron i'm taking

Thanxs :)

On the Analysis page, roll over the date and you will get a pop-up window with more info including iron.

2400mg sodium is the recommended daily maximum.  People with very low blood pressure are sometimes advised to get more salt.   If you're taking in 1000 mg, your blood-pressure is normal and you're feeling fine then there's no real reason to change.  If you were to be suddenly doing a lot of vigorous exercise, drinking large amounts of water or going to a very hot country you might want to increase it.

Ok, thanks guys.... :)

Just curious, how do you keep your sodium so low? I get that amount every day just in whole wheat breads. Plus, I'm a huge fan of cottage cheese at almost 500 mg per serving...etc......
