Dairy to lose belly fat?

Quote  |  Reply
I think it's a crock!  Does anyone else?  I get plenty of calcium (I eat two light 'n ft yogurts and a serving of cottage cheese everyday) and I still have a pooch!  I'm slim and toned but my belly sticks out.  I can see my abs (not a ripped six pack  by any means) but they stick out.  I'm a sit up and crunching machine but can't seem to get it to flatten out.  Does anyone have any other food suggestions that might help this problem?  Maybe it's not really a problem, but it irritates me to no end!

I have this same sort of problem. As I lost fat, I thought my stomach would flatten out, and it hasn't! I hope someone has some suggestions.

Try tucking your bottom under and pulling in the lower half of your belly (using your Transversus Abdominus muscles).  Practise doing that a lot.  It helps.

i went through the same thing though i am a male, I realized that no matter how many crunches and or weighted leg lifts or w.e the only way i would see my abs was if I lost the weight.
I really can't afford to lose weight!  That's the tough part.  I'm 5'10" and usually around 135, so dropping any weight would probably make me look like a bobble head.  I'm totally happy with my body...except in a bikini.  Oh well.  I'll stop complaining.
Yeah, a lot of people are lactose intolerant, so I can't see dairy doing much other than bloating out the tummy!!

I'm lactose intolerant - a glass of milk bloats me right up. I can handle yogurt fine though. I guess because of the active cultures?

There was a study a while back that indicated that dairy would help with weight loss. Since then, I believe, subsequent studies have debunked this.

A simple way to find out if a weight loss idea is a myth is by using a search engine. In this case do a search like "yogurt weight loss myth." Just look through the hits and you'll find it. I look for credible sources... people who aren't trying to make money on a book or particular program.
The only time I ever have a flat flat flat tummy is when I was sick like a dog with my food on the plate consisted of liquid and floating vegies. ... Not a good idea to go down that road for a flat belly. :)

So we hear a lot that body fat shed off wherever it decided to. And to some the abdomen area is one of the last. Crunching 100x a day & night is not going to help you get a flat belly. If anything it probably accentuate it. Why? Because the hard muscles underneath it actually push up the fat and makes it more obvious.

The only way to lose belly fat is to well, lose fat. Just be religious with your whole body workout, increase cardio, watch what you eat to make sure you don't add to your stored fat. But don't scrap your crunches or other weight training. You would want to keep that definition once the fat starting to melt. :)
Milk is an appetite suppressant is what it is. So yes, it could aid in weight loss. I have a cup with breakfast every morning ad I'm not hungry for a long time.
i never tired to lose my belly fat it just happened, i dont do sit ups or crunches.. i jjust run and eat healthy and i dont have a six pack, but i do have a flat stomach., which goes in! and all i do is run for exercise, oh i lie. I do dance, and use my abs to dance and stuff - hodl them in when i walk most of the time...

but i have had no babies lol so i guess my little writing is not helpfull
Only way your going to lose belly fat is to lose bodyfat, you cant target an area of your body to get leaner, your body stores fat like a pez, first in last out, and each body is different, unfortunatley for you, the last place seems to be the belly

i would recommend getting your bodyfat measured by a trainer or go get a body fat scale (they arent as accurate but can tell you if your in the right general direction) and getting together a routine for anarobic and areobic excercise.
Thanks for all the input!  It's awesome.  I think you are right that I might be accentuating the problem with sit ups and crunches.  Like I said, it's not really fat (no rolls or anything), but it just sticks out.  Oh well.  I haven't had any babies either.  Who knows what that will do to my stomach?!?!?!
