Damage control..my scale was broken and I didn't know it..
So here I am slipping up on my diet and exercise eating more than I usually would for a few weeks now..Igetting on the scale to find no change in weight still 112 great! I feel like a may be gaining though..clothes are a little more snug..could be the dryer? Could it be pyscological? NOPE...I have gained weight!!!! I realized when I went to my GF's house this weekend and was weighed on her wii fit..well that had to be wrong of course it said 6 pounds more than my home scale..so it must not be that accurate. Today I took my son to the doctor and while we were in the waiting room I noticed the scale in the corner...so of course I hopped on..and low and behold..6 freaken pounds heavier than my damn home scale !!! So my scale is officially broken as is my spirit! I have to cut back my calories again and weigh my food and exercise more and try to get this weight off before the holidays..hopefully it wil come off faster than before but I doubt it..who knows how long it took me to gain..I have been slacking since Sept/Oct. Anyone have their bubble burst like this before? Any advice to get motivated cause I feel really crappy and that makes me seek out the comfort food.....
Its only 6 pounds! Have you been working out or weight training? Maybe its muscle mass. Do you best to bring yourself back to your old diet plan- OR better yet...obviously it wasnt working since you went off of it. Devise a new meal or work out plan; something you can be really excited about and that you will really enjoy. Its easier to stick with something you like, right?!
Scales are stupid even when they arent broke, I go by measurements...maybe that could be something to think about also...sometimes the scale might be saying a higher number, but your inches could be shrinking! :)
I havn't experienced the whole "broken scales" things, however i can totally imagine how disconcerning it would be.
Keep your head up, 6 pounds is not much at all - You'll be able to loose 6 pounds in three weeks if you work hard!
Good luck :)
always check your scale with a set of free weights for accuracy :) this kinda happened to me once.. i bought a new scale quickly, because i lost all trust in my old one lol. kinda like a relationship!
my scale sucks too. :/ It changes its mind every 2 seconds and tells me 2 different weights. I just believe the lower one LOL because I dont want to believe the higher one (typically difference of 1.5 lbs)
This is electronic and it's my 2nd scale too! GAR
I had a broken scale once, but luckily, it told me my weight was 2 kgs HIGHER than my actual weight. So when I got a new scale, it was really great news. :)
Thank you all for your replies...I replaced the batteries and weighed in again..and low and behold the problem was resolved and it showed the 6 pound gain..ugghh..I also did as another poster said and tested with free weights..I was hoping it was wrong. I also use measurements to gauge myself and I have also gained inches ..checked that yesterday. I have been slacking on my workouts and my cc-ing. I know if I get back to logging my meals I will get back on track ..it just becomes so obsessive that I need to take a break and enjoy life..but not 6 pounds worth...lol. My weekends are the hardest..all those football parties..I will be bringing those veggie platters with me this week and only one bottle of wine :0). I am also donating my childrens halloween candy..that isn't helping at all!! Thanks again everyone..I am still welcoming any ideas to get motivated..
Scales lie. Track your calories. +3500 over what you burn + 1 lbs. -3500 over what your burn - 1lb... all easyily trackable on the site and using a calculator. The number don't lie, scales however, do.
Patzycakes is right. Weightloss is nothing more than simple math. However you have to be spot on with what your BMR is in the first place, and right about what kind of calories you are burning and consuming..and as you lose weight your BMR may change also. Even if you aren't losing weight your metabolism can change as your eating and stress levels do. Never overestimate your basal metabolic rate, or you will sabotage yourself. The numbers on the scale shouldnt ever 'surprise' you if you are keeping a good eye on what youre eating and what your burning.
The other day I was hanging out with my boyfriend and we were courious to see what we weighted together... so I jump on his back and we step on it. It flashed a few numbers and then nothing! We broke the scale and now I need a new one!
Sabatoge is not even close..can you say PMS and a house full of halloween candy?? All in all it was not worth it..I have to be meticulous in my logs again and I will lose what I gained back..I am so pissed because I was feeling great with a 20 pound loss under my belt..literally!
