So damn lazy :(

Quote  |  Reply
I've been being amazingly well-behaved as far as my diet goes, but I absolutely can't bring myself to go to the gym. I have no one to go with, its cold outside and I am just too lazy. But I know how important exercise is (it is, isn't it?) and I Know it will help my weightloss a lot. How do you guys find the will to get up off the couch???

for me it was a matter of finding something that i really enjoy doing.  then you'll look forward to it.  i love dance and my gym offers classes that are dance based aerobics so i do those a lot.

in the summer we've got beautiful trails out here so i go hiking and enjoy the beautiful scenary.

other times i just have to be determined to go, especially on days i'm just doing elliptical and/or weights.  just gotta be stubbourn :-)

think of the big picture, you're doing it to feel better and you will feel better and more energized when you are done.

I've bought a lot of home gym stuff (pilates dvds, mats, dumb bells, balance ball, etc,.) so when I don't feel like going outside, I don't have an excuse!

Also, I posted an ad for a work out buddy on Craigslist, and found someone with similar goals to mine. We try to get together to work out now and then.

Well its really hard! LOL for over a month I was very well behaved on my diet. Then when my weight loss started to stop i decided I better get to the Gym. I go in the Mornings and get it over with. Then I can come home in the evening and relax. I will sometimes go on my Lunch Break and that has been nice so I don't have to get up early. I have going to the Gym for about a month and the weight has just fell off. also you will get to eat more. :) to get motivated to go just think about the things you will be able to eat. If I go tot he Gym in the morning and on my Lunch Break I always let myself have a nice treat of Ice Cream or French Frys something that i really don't get to have very much. anyway I hope that helps you get going. it really will make you feel great and help you look better.

First of all congrats on doing well with your diet.  I'm a person who actually enjoys exercising, but I also have many of those days where I just don't feel like changing clothes and going down to our cold basement to workout.  But I force myself because I know once I start I'll warm up and enjoy what I'm doing.  Not to mention the great feeling you get when you're done.

I know how you feel. Do you HAVE A DOG?If so take him for a long walk every day. It really helps me to be motivated knowing that he needs it as badly as I do. If you don't have one find a neighbor who does have one. And even though it's cold outside a walk always feels nice.
i used to be like that and then i joined a new gym with a friend who was a regular. i now go daily and hate missing it.

I found the key was join a gym close to your work, if its convenient you are more likely to go and it avoids the situation of getting home and relaxing and then having to make the effort to go out again. I love the fact that i leave the office at 6.30, do a 7-8pm class and by 8.30 im home with my hair washed and im ready to relax or go out.

Second tip is enroll in a few classes, find something you enjoy and it will motivate you more. Im really into spinning and body pump. Having a trainer for 1 hour making you push yourself is so much more effective than workig out alone. Youll feel the burn and see the results much quicker. Also if youve booked the class you are much more likely to get to the gym, rather than sitting around thinking 'ill go later'.

Finally, i was watching a programme on habits and experts beleive that if you do some 21 times it becomes a habit and from then on much easier. That means if you go 3-4 times a week by march you will be a fully fledged gym bunny. Surely 21 times is possible, target yourself to just do one month of effort and see how it pays off.

i can't do it either!!!  :(  try doing a few stretches at least...  something...  anything...  that will hopefully get you going  :D

i really DO feel so much better when i exercise, but i just don't feel like it!  when i do, though, i feel so much more energetic!
