I was just wondering what everyone’s thoughts were on this product- Yay or Nay? I’m not a big milk drinker, so I’ve been drinking a danactive every 2nd morning to try to balance that off a little. Also, there’s all this talk about probiotic cultures being good for you, but what do they do exactly?
There’s a lot of sugar per serving, so I guess I’m just wondering if I’m in fact SABOTAGING my diet by drinking this stuff, rather than doing something healthy…

With our consumption of alcohol and antibiotics, we often kill off the "good" bacteria that normally live in our digestive tracts. That has huge implications for both the digestive and the immune system.
Pickleberry is right, any yogurt that says "Contains live active cultures" are doing the same. I might save a few bucks and sugar calories and opt for something else. The Blue Bunny Lite 85 I think has only 9g of sugar... or you can do a greek yogurt, has a lot less "weird" ingredients. But make sure the container says live active cultures. Because some do not, and those are pretty much worthless
Actually, that's not true. Most yogurt is Lactobacillis acidopholus. Whereas many of the newer contain other, equally necessary types of bacteria such as Bifidus regularis, Activia's trademarked bacteria, but is part of a larger class of bacteria that are called bifidobacterium which are what are used in many of these newer "digestive health" yogurts. They play a different role in digestion than the Lactobacillis bacteria and may even help prevent some types of tumors.
DH likes Danactive... and our cats LOVE it. It's not going to hurt you. It's not the same as drinking milk though - if you're looking for calcium you'd be better off taking a supplement.
I think I'm probably better off buying yogurt and dressing it up with fresh fruit, like pickleberry said...
Thanks for the info!
They are two different bacterias yes, but they both produce the same outcome...
I like the DanActive simply because it's so easy for me to grab a bottle on my way out or while at my desk. I'm looking at the back label now and it says there are 80 calories, 14g of sugar and it provides 10% of your calcium needs.
Most dairy products contain natural sugars. I don't think its necessary for adults to drink milk -- there are plenty of other ways to get your calcium.
mmmmmmm... I had some issues with the Activia Yogurt from the same company.
After a week, I went from regular to exploding from my nether-regions. I guess it didn't sit well with me .
good stuff, hadn't been sick or even a cold in 2 years while taking it.
