How Dare You!
I was at the bus stop yesterday, and some man came up to me and said "excuse m have you got the time?...God your a big girl aren't you?"
Did I smack this man? Did I tell him off, No I just mumbled "I havent got the time sorry" and let him go on his merry horrible little way. What makes people think they have any right to say stuff like that? No ones ever felt the need to comment on my size in the street before, it really worries me.
Anyone else had this happen? Isn't it just downright rude!
That's worse than someone calling you a rich b*tch for spending your own money :)
Seriously, that's awful. I am sorry that happened to you. Too bad you didn't respond by saying "Am I? I suppose I must look that way to such a small man."
Oh that totally sucks! If anyone said that to me I think I'd be so dumbfounded I'd just look at them like WTF? I have no clue why anyone thinks that they have the right to just spout off like that -- maybe it's the way they were raised? A general lack of class? A bully mentality? I'd much rather be a "big girl" than an i nconsiderate rude pig.
I know! I was so shocked. My friends have been trying to convince me he was talking about my boobs but even if he was I still tihnk its downright rude.
what a total d-bag! So sorry you had to suffer that, some people are just so stupid it blows my mind that they don't fall down more. Don't take it personally it was probably just one of those people born without a filter in their brain, maybe he WAS talking about your boobs.....still a total d-bag. Write it off and pay him no mind.
I am trying. It's just so hard not to let things like that get to you. I've spent all of this afternoon being told "your not fat!" "What a D**k" etc, from a friend but for some reason all i can think of is, i recently gained some more weight, i'm very short and my friends are obliged to say ncie things. And if people feel the need to say it in the STREET! Jesus. I worry that I'm bigger than I think I am :(
Oh my goodness you poor thing, sit down, clear your head, stop thinking for like 30 seconds just let yourself blank out. It IS a total bummer when people say things like that yes, as for your friends, they're not required to say anything but if you're really concerned about what you look like think of it this way. You posted this on calorie count....clearly you're headed in the right direction. It's all going to be cool, in the grande scheme of things this guy is nothing, you don't know him, chances are you will never see this person ever again and I'm sure he's not thinking "wow I wasn't very nice to that chick" even though he should be, don't give him anymore of your time and energy then you already have. I understand how you feel though its happened to alot of us and it's not fun and it IS just plain mean but you're better then him, remember that.
Edit: PS your profile picture is just so perfect for this post, it's like "you DID NOT just say that!!!!!!"
I would have been like "Yeah, exercise and eating right will cure it if I want to slim down. What are you going to do to cure your lack of intelligence because it clearly shows. Especially in the manners department. As for your question? Do I have time for you? No I don't have time to associate with a**holes."
Heh. Some people are just ignorant. Don't take it personally. Most men (not all men!) don't think before they speak. They just say whatever before rationalizing it in their heads. You're beautiful and as long as you know that and you have your loved ones in your life they are all that matters. Not some ignorant idiot on the street who clearly isn't worth ANYONE'S time. Someone who comes out and talks like that to a stranger is not worth listening to.
If someone ever said that to me, I'd like to think that I would have the presence of mind to retort: "God, you're an @ssh*** aren't you?"
But in real life I probably wouldn't think of it in time and would react just like you did.
Seriously, though, what an @ssh***.
In response to his question, could've said: "Not for you."
Don't you wish the witty remarks came during the event? >:|

I love this line!
I am sorry this twit was so rude to you shannona. But I notice that he seems to be missing a lot. Perhaps he needs compassion.
he is missing the time, missing good sense, missing politeness, missing a concience.....someone like that is probably missing a lot more too.

I concur! I've had people make personal remarks of all kinds, foot in mouth disease abounds and most of them have absolutely no clue that they've said anything off! It's a way of trying to start a conversation (a poor one, but an attempt nevertheless) with a cute girl that he has absolutely no chance with.
when i was 15 and overweight some dude on the street stopped and asked me if i was pregnant :(
oh my god. people like him are the reason the world sucks.
i was at a party my junior year in high school, and this guy, named tree, was running around touching every girls butt... i was not even aware of this mind you, and anyways when he got to mine he was like "DAMN yo' ass hugeeee' if he was drunk i would have made an exception, but no... sadly, he was just a pig.
You were far too polite. You should have told him that with a bit of dedication you can lose your weight but he'll be stuck with his personality forever!
There was a guy on Calorie Count a few weeks ago who was thrown off for being rude, lewd and crude. Maybe that was him!!
What a jerk! I would have lost my temper and said "Duck off @ss****!"
It's situations like that that make me happy I'm quick with comebacks.
You know that guy is a dick. Don't let him bother you at all.
thanks guys, I've found that I'm not too worried about it today as I was yesterday thankfully. felix and jenn that absolutely sucks. God I wish people would think before they speak!
@whoever said my profile picture suited it, lol i've just noticed that, genius :D
Thanks for the kind words guys
Um, was anyone around to witness this? I know if I ever saw a stranger walk up to another stranger and call them fat, I would definately b**** and make a big thing about it. And I'm usually a quiet person...
