Dare you to move!
Hi!
My name is Sean. I am 34 and weigh 279. I started a weight loss program on 9-13-09 and on that day I weighed 304. I have been steadily losing. Things I am doing:
- logging all of my food (in a composition book and now here)
- logging all of my exercise
- walking at least 2 miles a day
- kicked soda ( I have 1 or 2 in a week. I used to have that at one meal)
- changed to whole wheat on everything
- no candy, sweets, chips
- snack now on almonds, pistachios, raisins, dried berries
- New attitude. I am just not thinking so negatively about my abilities to lose weight.
- Prayer. I am not kidding about this one. I talk to the Big Guy about every thing and that includes my health.
- Joined this site.
What sort of calorie goal are you shooting for?
Nuts, while good for you, are just so high in calories that I feel like I can't afford them.
Once I go to a maintenance level, they will the first thing I add back to help me increase calories.
After you go with whole wheat for awhile, look into whole grain.
Welcome and good luck!

- 2300 cal
- I don't snack much but when I do I love some almonds. Still if I find them to be adding up the calorie count I will probably kick them to the curb!
- I love my nuts.
- I meant whole grain. I don't know why I wrote whole wheat. I am sure some of what I eat is not whole grain but it is a lot healthier than what I was eating before.

Hey Beck!
I am glad I found this site. It is such a great way to keep track of your goals. I will try to keep posting every day. Some days are harder than others.
God is the only way I kicked alcohol. God is the one who helped me kick my lust problems (strip clubs are expensive). God made me a husband and a father. God is going to get me through this too.
I'll add to your rant. Let me go read it.
Thanks for the greeting and the encouragement.
Sean
Sean,
It is so nice to meet you. It sounds like you are really on the right track. If you need anything, just give a holler. And when you talk to the Big Guy remember the rest of us!
Sean,
We have a weekly weigh in thread in MegaHeavy Goals. You can come in and let us know how you are doing there.
Also there is a how I did today (list what you ate today and how think you did) thread in here somewhere).
If you want a little accountibility that might help. Plus the fact if you talk to us about what is going on, most folks here have an opinion, advice, personal experience, solace...etc. to offer.

Added to my prayers,Tex and all of us actually.
Sean,
Being off the alcohol is great. For one thing it's so full of calories! Plus the damage it can do to your body when overindulged in.
You are making a lot of changes. Hang in there buddy. If you need something, give a shoutout.

I am new to this site and still trying to figure it all out but I am sure that I will be trying a bit of everything for encouragement, support and accountability.
Thanks again,Tex.
I am assuming you are the guy in the photo, but lots of girls are named Sean now, so if I am off the mark, straighten me out.

The lovely lady is my wife. I'm the dude.
Sean I read your messages and you are definitely on the right track. I commend you for all the weight you have already lost prior to joining CC. I'm a fairly new member and joined after losing a lot of weight (for me) so as to stop fooling around and eating enough over my calorie limit, to have to lose the same pound or two over and over again. I decided on January 1. 2009 to make a complete life change and lose over 100 pounds. You will find all kinds of good ideas and information in the groups available through CC. We're all cheerleaders for each other and give support generously. Like you I'm a firm believer in God and I thank Him for His blessings every day in respect to my weight loss. You can't go wrong.
Thanks for the encouragement. I need a support group just for the accountability/encouragement part of it. My biggest support is my LORD. I am so grateful to him and know that my health is important to him.
