After Dark, After Six or Eight
I understand the point of if you eat before you go to bed it only turns in what we are all trying to lose. Fat ![]()
So is there proof the not eating after a certain time works and what time is right?
The total amount of calories you eat is a lot more important than when you eat them. Not eating after a certain time might help you eat fewer total calories for the day. But if you are hoping to eat whatever you want as long as you stop eating in the evening, it's not gonna work that way! Sorry - there is no easy way to lose weight. Count your calories and exercise, it's that easy and that hard!
I do know that binge eating is not the way. Six light meals a day is best. If you only eat one meal a day your body will store it in fat because it is not sure when the next meal will come.
Hi Sammielynn, no I have not found anything on internet supporting the idea of losing weight because you do not eat after say 8pm. I have seen more repeatedly that total calories matter and to try not to eat more than 800 calories in one seating. Also, to not eat less than 1200 calories a day to avoid the famine stage and subsequent hold onto fat. Eating often, grazing, or whatever you want to call it - seems to work for me and some others. What I seem to respond well to, is eating every 2.5 to 3 hrs. Since I can lose weight with 1200 calories, I don't like to go hungry because 1200 is not much, you know? If I get hungry it is so hard to stop eating cuz I cannot tell if I am full right away. Waiting 20 min after my portions are eaten is hard to do when I think I am hungry. So snacking of 100 calories worth of something works - if I make sure I have waited about 3 hours. I use my stopwatch when I do eat to know for sure if I have waited enough time until the next time. I got it bad really to want to eat ALL THE TIME! But I have always been this way - my Mom used to say to me, You'd eat all day, if I let you. (Mom's can get it right sometimes!) So this way I give myself a bit of structure and it has helped, and I guess that is what my body needs is something every 2.5 to 3 hrs. There is a time to eat and time not to eat.
Hope you find what works for you too.
