Date Change - Calling all C-Cers in WA and maybe northern OR - Seattle Meetup!!
{{{{EDIT}}}} NOTICE ---- DATE CHANGE
Sunday, May 20, 2007 10:00 AM to about 1:00 PM
We've talked about it, now let's do it!!!
Zeitgeist Coffeehouse: 171 S. Jackson St. (on Jackson, between 1st and 2nd Ave, on the south side of the street) (Bus Route 15, running southbound on 1st ave, stops at 1st and Jackson.)
http://zeitgeistcoffee.com/aboutz.asp
A coffee house and art gallery with lots of warm wood, expansive space and great coffee and pastries. The goal at Zeitgeist is to conjure up a European coffeehouse, a space for conversation, interaction and community creation. Zeitgeist participates in the first Thursday art walk, and is very popular with the Seattle arts community.
Lollipopfairy will in Seattle then and I know she is planning to be there. Those that want to stick around after that can go for lunch.
Okay, get your name on the list, earlier is better than later.

Thanks Veevee!! Sounds awesome!! Meter parking is free in downtown on Sundays! I have a great place in mind for lunch! =) Always open to suggests though!
Hey, if that date and time doesn't work for anyone, just speak up. Very flexible. I'll be in Seattle from March 23rd to May 30th. =)
Or if you don't want to meet Downtown... I have vehicle, will travel. I suggest a location on the Northend, the Eastside or the Southend. Heck, I'd even go over to West Seattle! *wink* Plenty of options!

I have a minivan that fits 6 very comfortably. We could caravan somewhere. Let's all work hard to make this happen!!!
I'm kinda sorta interested. I'm in Victoria, which is just a few buses and a ferry away.
Put me down for a kinda sorta definite maybe.

Cmillington, if you need a ride, let me know. I'll come pick you up.
That's brilliant! Thank you so much! [pm'ed as well]
I might be able to make it : ) My weekends can be pretty slammed, but I will try! Thanks for the invite!
cmillington ~ someday i would like to drive alll the way up the Pacific Coast and then take the ferry into Vancouver and have tea @ the Empress. Would ya? Could ya? huh, huh? I don't think I can get away until at least this fall, maybe next spring (would not want to travel late fall until early winter) but.... I just can't come up to Seattle now... doing double duty @ work right now... and can't get away :\ I wish!!!
Vee ~ I would stop in Seattle & would love to have lunch at the Space Needle and then shop at the market below ~ every gal luvs gr8 shopping, huh?
It sounds like so much fun! I wish I could go!!!
:::sigh:::
Maybe y'all could come to Disneyland with me (THE happiest place in the world ;)... or take a bay cruise around Alcatraz and have shrimp cocktails on the wharf in San Francisco... my other fav things to do....
:::sigh::: that even has to wait... but i can take mental day trips ;)
will expect pics from this meet up gals!!!

Oooo! Tea at the Empress! I have a coupon. (ROFL - I just owned up to being a colossal nerd, didn't I?)
C'mon up. The spare futon folds out with ease. Spring in Victoria is a lovely place.

I'd be willing to daytrip up to Victoria. Veevee, what do you think about moving locations? Victoria, BC instead of Seattle?
We could even take the ferry up... there is a direct ferry from Seattle. Hold on, I'll go look up information.

So, let's see... We can catch the ferry in Seattle on Saturday March 31st at 8:00 AM, be in Victoria by 10:45 AM.
Leave Victoria at 6:00 PM, arrive back in Seattle at 8:45 PM.
$99.00 USD RT and it is a really NICE ride. =)
As I recall, the Empress was a short walk or cab ride from the ferry terminal, Cmillington, can you confirm that information?
Same schedule for Sunday, April 1st.
Preferences?

BTW, the Tulip Festival is April 13th - 15th and 20th to 22nd. I've done that with the Victoria Clipper before, that's a really nice trip.

I could do that, too. My schedule is flexible. =) That's suppose to be time I am spending with my Mom on the beach (Westport, WA... which all of you are welcome to come for a visit and walk on the beach)... but she won't mind going to see tulips (she loves flowers).
My mom, age 72, reached her highest weight of 340 in June 2003. She just told me on the phone last night that she is down to 145lbs. In my whole life, I have never seen my mom down to that weight. While she's not computer savvy (so she is not a C-C member) - she did it all by portion control, making healthier decisions and exercise, which I believe is the spirit of C-C! So I really find her journey an inspiration.

To be perfectly honest the daytrip up to Victoria would not work for me. However, if it works for the rest of you, I would understand.
The Tulip Festival trip might work. I honestly haven't had time to check it out. I honestly am concerned about any walking involved as I just can't do much walking.
Sorry if I am being a wet blanket on your ideas. I am sure we can work something out.

Ack!! Sorry for my delay in response. I remember lots of walking when I've been to the Tulip Festival in the past. So let's stick to our original plan.
Sunday, April 1st from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Zeitgeist Coffeehouse: 171 S. Jackson St.

Oh drat. I should have pushed harder for Victoria! ::hee hee::
It turns out there's a run/walk on April 1st, which I'm thinking I'd like to do. It's 5km, exactly what the CC virtual run was.
Alas, I think I'll miss this trip.
BUT - in answer to the earlier questions, yes, The Empress is a five-minute walk from the Clipper. (The Coho, btw, is miles cheaper, although you have to hop $26 worth of buses from Seattle to get to Port Angeles, so it becomes a longer trip, but it's very budget-effective.)
Another option if the James bay Tearoom, which also does a beautiful high tea, but at half the cost and double the time. The Empress is worth the tea experience, but they discourage lingering by having a line of people waiting to get in. $45 and a rushed tea. <grumble>
Perhaps the next meetup could be here... high tea, anyone?

Do we know how many are planning to be there for the Seattle meetup? It is this coming Sunday and is going to be lots of fun.
Hey Veevee, I am still in. I think it might just be me and you, but that will be alright. I'd love to get up to the meetup in BC in mid-April, but that is when I'll be out on the coast with my Mom.
I think I'll be going down to the Portland area sometime in May. If you'd like to tag along for the ride, we can cordinate our schedules over coffee (or tea) on Sunday!! I look forward to meeting you and have a colour card for you!! =)

I would love to be there and I think it stands at a 50-50 chance that I will actually be able to attend. We may be helping my MIL move that Saturday and I'm still not firm about how Sunday is shaping up. But I hope to be there!
I will have to go next time. I can't possibly get away this weekend. Kids spring break starts and all . But it would have been fun and I will definately go next trip. I just have to much planned for the next few months.
I'm going to drop a message to Veevee, but I would like to consider rescheduling this event to May. Next week is spring break and I have a chance to be with my son all weekend and all next week.
What would work for me is: Saturday, May 5th or Sunday, May 6th... or the following weekend, Saturday, May 12th or Sunday, May 13th. My schedule is very flexible for May.
Same place, same time... though open to other suggestions (Have car, will travel)? ;)
