Would you ever date someone shorter than you?

Pretty self-explanitory. I'm curious to know...

Girls, would you ever date someone shorter than you?

Guys, would you ever date someone taller than you?

I just decided to kill time before I go last minute Christmas shopping. Haha.

*thinks of George Costanza's "fantasy"*

Personally I wouldn't I think it looks odd.

I have dated two men shorter than me.

Height has nothing to do with what is in a person's heart.

i couldn't. i'd feel like i was dating my little brother.

i mean i wouldnt NOT date someone because they are taller than me. but i dont want no midget either. you gotta look at the positives. say your together and you cant reach something. maybe SHE CAN. so there are positives. i mean my dream girl would want to get married at the new york jets football stadium while brett favre is the priest but is that gonna happen? nooo. ill take what i can get.

haaahaha

i usually go for tall guys, but my BF is only taller than me by 1 inch. i'm still working on not letting it bother me to wear heels around him! but it really it doesn't matter too me all that much. i probably wouldn't date someone shorter than me, but i guess you can never say never.

This is all too interesting, haha. Thanks for the replies. I'm pretty tall (5'9") in comparison to most guys around here, so I don't have much of a selection. The last person I was with was 5'6" and it took some getting used to for both of us, but in the end height definitely didn't matter. The person I am with now is 6'3" and its my first time with someone taller than me. That ALSO takes some getting used to, but it made me realize that I prefer taller guys.

Long story short, I might prefer someone taller, but when it comes down to it I just don't care. Like someone said, I wouldn't NOT date them if they were shorter. As long as they're a good guy, it doesn't matter.

wait til some midget sweeps you off your feet =] im 5'9 but im quite the charmer. ahhh jk im not a charmer i havent had a gf since 7th grade im much too busy. but hey its fun to pretend

I haven't met a guy shorter than me since grade school. Lol! At that time there was no dating allowed so it's never been a concern. I'm that short. I don't think there are many guys shorter than someone that is just skimming the 5'2 mark.

why do guys who are 5'9" feel short? that's not short! and it's definitely taller than most women. my bf's that height, and it bugs him to no end. he's taller than me, though, so i don't give 2 craps.

I have no idea! I think that 5'9 is tall.

I'm with dalma 5'9 is good to go.

I agree, Andie-joe.

haha i'm not calling myself a midget or anything like that. But all my friends are atleast 6 feet tall i am the short one in the group. All my friends and I are athletes and most of them are tall. There are a couple of us who are my height(the safeties cornerbacks and runningbacks) But yeah im not short. Im just not tall thats all.

I've tried dating a shorter man and it makes me feel uncomfortable. I am tall for a woman but not abnormally tall -- I usually wear heels and I am 5'7" ish. Just something about it made me feel not 100% at ease. My boyfriend is about 5'11", usually in the past I've dated more along the lines of 6'2" - 6'4".

My mother is 6' tall and my father was about 5'10" when they got married. (He has since gotten shorter.) I guess it didn't bother her much at the time. Now she is married to my step-father and he is 6'4".

I beg to differ, Totalcontrol05. You are indeed tall even though you're comparing yourself to exceedingly tall people. On the height chart you fall into the tall area.

I'm 5'8" and I prefer taller men, but there aren't as many of them out there as I'd like. I'm not going to turn down a date with a guy I find otherwise attractive just because he's a bit shorter than I am.

A lot shorter is another matter. 5'4" and under is probably out unless we have a lot in common and get along really well.

Of course, I've only been on one date since my ex and I split four years ago, so I'm not the best judge.

well thank you enchantingimage. If i ever get a girlfriend one day i hope she feels the same way!

You're more than welcome. =-P

I was disappointed when I went from one of the tallest girl in grade school to one of the shortest in junior high. Apparently I had all my growth spurts earlier on. I'm guilty just not on height because I've told people jokingly I'd never date someone with this or that quality in the past. Lol. There all sorts of things people do that you may or may not dislike. That doesn't mean we should lie about our preference. It's a generalized statement to your preference.

Someone may have flat out said they will never be with someone with a certain attribute or quality. Such as " I will never date someone shorter than me. " But, then meet their soul mate... That guess what... Has that attribute/quality! One quality or attribute of a person doesn't make up a whole package. There are things we like and dislike in everyone. Aspects that we could do without by preference, but that doesn't mean we could or want to do without the person that possesses it. Or that we should be reprimanded for our preference.

My sister married a red headed man and she  hated red hair. I recall her saying " I will NEVER be with anyone with RED hair. Gah. " It's just a preference that had nothing to do with love. They just celebrated their 16th anniversary.

Sure I would.

But I'm short so even men who are considered short are an inch or so taller than me, at least.
