Daylight Savings Time

Here in Arizona we don't move our clocks foward or back so for part of the year we are in Mountain time zone and then the other part we are in Pacific time zone.  I like the summer being in Pacific time zone because lots of the cable shows I like will now be on an hour earlier.

What do you all think of this moving the clock early this year? 

What I think is, once they move it ahead, they need to LEAVE it there! I HATE it so much when they change it back and it gets dark earlier! :( I really don't accept change well, though, so I could have just waited for the traditional time change. It just doesn't feel right doing it now ... but I'm not gonna complain.

Also, all everybody ever did was beg and plead for them to move the date up (so we change the clocks ahead SOONER), and now that they have, everybody's whining and crying about the "problems" it may cause. Well, this is the 2000s, we should be able to handle it!

Is that this weekend? *wink* I have no sense of time. Sometimes I am off by a whole day!! But thanks for the reminder. Is it tonight we set the clocks or tomorrow night?

Hey, I'm actually the same way -- no sense of time! I'm glad to know there's somebody ELSE out there like me because it can be embarrassing when people ask time-related questions. For example, about your weekend or class or whatever. I never know what day it is! There have been days where it's been Monday and I thought it was Friday and days when it's been Friday and I thought it was Monday. haha I think my "problem" is I worked night shift for eight years. I don't work at that job anymore, but I still live on night shift. :)
I'm 99% sure you switch your clock ahead tonight. I always remember people telling me they missed church because they forgot to change their clocks. Of course, there are (or were) some states that don't change the time.

Great topic...I live in Indiana and for years we never touched our clocks..we liked it that way.  Then we got a new govenor who decided to make our lives difficult..For awhile now my county has been on two different time zones.  We were selected to go with Central Time but our kids co-op out of our school and that would of put them on a different time zone so most people including our school has been on Eastern time..The county finally one the battle and we all go to Eastern time tonight...It was a big mess because you always had to call ahead to make sure where you were going was on what time zone!!! 

We set our clocks up an hour TONIGHT *Saturday night*. We LOSE an hour..UGH!

rachael: my sentiments exactly.. Why don't we change time on a friday at like 2pm, so we get an early start on the weekend.. No we have to lose an hour of our weekend... drat.

Jamster: i too live in indiana, where abouts are ya? i am guessing in one of the corners since u are going on eastern time.. dang u lose 2 hrs of your weekend don't u?  i thought i heard something about that on the news.. maybe mistaken.. who knows?

I hate it! Its there any good reason for it? I just posted that and found this a little to late! My body gets all out of wack! Uggg!

I HATE daylight savings time.  I prefer sunlight when I wake up in the morning, not when I go to bed at night.  We are in bed by 9 or 10 pm so extra daylight then is not only pointless, but bothersome.  I like it to be DARK when I sleep.  I used to live in Indiana and didn't even know what DST was but I've been in Michigan for 14 years now and I don't like it any better now than I did then.  But alas, now my family, which is still in Indiana, is also on this manic schedule.  They too were unhappy when the new governor pushed DST on them.

btw...sorry about the long rant but I really needed to vent about this.

I'm in indiana too, and I hate DST. I used to look forward to waking up when the sun was out! But no, not anymore. And, I have a 1 and 3 yr old that really hate going to bed in the morning. My husband works third shift, so I also liked him driving home in the light, because it helped him stay awake. What I don't get is we HAD o tbe on DST for "businesses" because the apparently lost money because they couldn't work with out of state businesses becasue of the time change. That confuses me, aren't we STILL on the different time then most states?

I get all screwed up for AT LEAST a week after the time changes.  They should just leave it like this, what a meaningless thing this time change!

Ravenlark, I am the same way.  My body just doesn't "get it' fast enough.  I say, we tell the damn farmers to get up when it's dark, how did their occupation of choice become my problem! :P

DST has NOTHING to do with the farmers.  They start at dawn & stop after dark no matter what the time is.  My dad farms and he didn't want to go on DST.

It doesn't matter any more anyways beacuse all of the states are getting rid of it soon.  It use to be 6 months apart, this year it's for months, next year it will be two months apart and then we won't do it at all anymore.  And they are sticking with the "spring forward" time.  So get use to it being darker in the mornings and lighter later.
