I lost @20 pounds in 6 months. Have kept it off but I'm feeling as tho if I don't jump start something, I'll just start gaining again.

So, this is my middle chunk of weight, I'll still have more to lose, but, this will help me define where I'm headed.

Nothing extreme. Nothing crazy. I just want to get moving for a permanent result. I need to eat between 1500 and 1600 BUT NO MORE plus exercise daily (I do a 5 mile hike).

I'm 43 and 5'7 and want to be less than 160# in the end. This 20# would put me right about at 171#.

Anyone in?

20 lbs would put me at 177-178. I'm 5'9" with a large frame. My goal is 160, so that would get me alot closer!
Cool, Melanie...I'm starting a few hours ago. :  ) I have a medium build. I'm going to log every day for 100 days!

Some days ain't gonna be very pretty, either, you know what I mean? I did 20 # in 6 months, this will be 1/2 the time. I feel like I know more and am more disciplined. Besides cc says that's @ 1.5 # /week and that's healthy.  

I'm starting out griping because I have a bad cold. But, you know when it's TIME you just gotta do it!
Sounds good! I'll have today as my first day also! Than since April 15 is a Tuesday, I'll weigh in on Tuesdays. Yesterday I was 197 and today 198, so I'll say I started at 198. 

Who else is in on this???!!!!

It might be just the two of us and I think that would be cool...you seem motivated. I am too! We can just bounce off eachother. And, if it works out, I could do this again w/my last 15, too! Let's see how it goes!

Well, let's do it then! I'm going to close it today and let's try out being buddies for 3 months and see how we do. If you find something better/need a change, just let me know. But, we both have the same goal and same energy toward achieving it. I'm going to log in at least once a day. It keeps me focused. AND I'll probably weigh in at least every few days but will make Wed my official day, too. You do what's comfortable for you, too, of course.

I am working from a skeleton diet:

grapenuts + milk, @7 asst'd nuts, 4 choco chips (I mean it!) and 2 dried apricots daily 312 calories

I also eat homemade soup and bread 250

I'll have rice or some carb 150

banana and apple 170

I choose 2 proteins/day: tofu, beans, egg, ccheese, salmon patty, salmon, tuna, hamburger/meat, chix, veggie burger, cheese

I choose 4 veggies: 1/2 swt pot, rudabaga, brussel sprouts, asparagus, broccoli, caulifl, peas, cabbage, bokchoy, eggplant, zuchini, etc.

1 serving yogurt + either cookie, fruit or bread or protein

1600 cals total.

This diet has taken a long time to work out. I figure that I'll have to stay with it once I hit my target but then I'll be able to add a thick slice of choco cake one day a week for 1950 cals!!! or something like that.

In January I'm trying to get all my calories logged in daily. It's a "January resolution" you could say... lol

You did have a good day! I think I did, too, yesterday! @1600. I have a journal AND for the last month, I've logged my menus in a diet journal. I write in these every day!

Today I'm feeling optomistic. Just sipping tea and relaxing. If I don't start out eating first thing then it's usually an indicator that the day will be productive.

I just had grape nuts and I'm headed out for a walk. By this time of a.m...(it's 8:30) I've had a few nuts and maybe a choco chip (I use these now for snacking...4 a day is all the choco I really ever have anymore) and I just suck it and a dried apricot.

And a cup of tea or two.

after my walk, I'll have a salad...romaine/parm cheese/and then mix it up w/other things.

Yesterday I did cardio for 30 minutes on the treadmill. Today I'm planning on doind a little weights and conditioning excersizes. Probably 25 minutes or something like that. Than I might look and see what workouts are on tv today and if I see a good one, than I'll do that too.

Monday morning weight= 198
Tuesday= 197
Wednesday= 198
Today= 197.5

Back and forth, back and forth! LOL Hopefully no more 198!

I hiked my 5 with my dog but everything's melted so the walk was slow because he is SO curious. That was cool. It was beautiful out.

I weighed in at 197 late yesterday afternoon on my dr scale. I am not going to fuss about exact pound. I want to be somewhere in the 170s in 100 days!

rebepi, my goal is to lose @ 20 in 100 days and then maintain for a while and then hit it again so that I'll be somewhere @/below 160. I don't want to be crazily @ diet anymore. I really want to get control of all that's controlled me, tho.

so, rebepi, if you're in, that's cool w/me, too. so, maybe we're not REALLY closed, eh, Melani? : )

It's cool too, since we're all about 5'8"-5'9" and in the 190's! It'll interesting seeing what people close to me are eating and their workouts!
Plus we're all shooting for around 160 in the end, which I think is awesome!

It's kind of strange that you're both in the same height and weight range as me. I don't see that often. It seems like most of the women on here are shorties. =)

Melanie, you look a hell of a lot skinnier than I do. *sigh* I think my body fat percentage is still too high, which means... I have to start exercising. I hate exercising.
