3 days of binging... Support?

Quote  |  Reply

It started 3 days ago, when I ate about 5000 calories. I thought "not a big deal, I biked so I burnt 2500 calories". Yeah, it WOULDN'T have been a big deal, since Im not trying to lose weight but not gain either... I was supposed so have 1500 calories the next day, but it turned into 2500 calories, which were eaten between 6-10 pm. Crap. But I did burn 2500, I did my bike ride again. But still, my weeks surplus was +2500...

But the worst was today... Not calorie-wise the worst but I feel the worst, my tummy hurts... I ate 200 g candy, 2 baquettes, a small jar of jam, a whole oven-baked pancake and half a packet of spinach pancakes. Carb-loading, huh? Today I think I've had about... 3500 calories?

So now Im on a 4300 calorie surplus... Owwwwh. My tummy hurts SO bad, the baquettes almost killed me.

I feel very bad on the inside too. :( What should I do? Eat 1500 for the rest of the week? And the next week too?

If you are trying to maintain weight, as well as doing heavy excercise, then you probably need more daily calories than 1500. You should try eating the same amount of calories you burn each day. You might be surprised that this gets rid of the desire to binge.

if youre burning that many calories and only taking in 1500 your body is basically running on empty and you are trying to catch up....up your calories to equal what you burn.....the same in as out should equal out......dont worry about the last few days no one is perfect, beating yourself up just makes you feel worse.....

Hi ieevee, my heart goes out to you. I also binge and I totally understand how depressing and painful it is. Maybe your body needs more calories daily? Like, instead of 1500 calories per day, how about 2000? Because when you restrict your intake, your body will go "crazy" and want to eat everything. And since you burn so much calories, having 1500 wouldn't be enough.

This is terrible, I binged today again. Today it wasn't that bad, maybe day's total was ~3000 or a bit more. I didn't exercise though.

TOMORROW I will do it! I have to... Im so scared right now... I have vowed to never, EVER go on the scales again, so that doesn't bother me. But Im afraid this is not just a one-week phase. What if it gets out of control and next month my pants wont fit anymore? :(

How about try eating 3 meals + 2 snacks a day? Also, add in protein and healthy fats. I know how scary it is, trust me.

Don't give up! If you binge one day, then you've got the next day to try again. And don't restrict either, because that could contribute to binging.

Hey ieevee,

I understand where you're coming from, I've had some rather horrifying binges where once I start, I can't stop and I have had a few excess thousand calories.. it's a player on the mind for sure! (and on the waistline) eek. I don't like the idea of eating massive amounts and then exercising massive amounts to compensate for it, it's no kind of life ^_^

How long have you been on CC... and what are your successes so far? When I get into a rut and over indulge... annd feel like I won't get out of it again, I look back to when I've had a few good weeks of eating well in the past, and controlling my excesses. With this in mind, I tell myself, 'you've stayed on track before and done sooo well, so, whats to stop you doing it again!' just knowing you're very *capable* of pulling in the reins and getting back on board, does help. If you can just make tomorrow healthy and moderated... at your calorie target, then you've accomplished something! you'll get over that initial hurdle, and feel the benefits so much it'll carry you through to the next day... oh and then the next, voila.

And yeah, maybe you want to rethink your set calorie amount and delve into why perhaps you crave/binge.. is your body missing out on something important? Maybe your deficits are too high, after your exercise?

all the best (:
