What can I do on my days inbetween gym?
Should I go for a walk, a run?
I got a treadmill in my shed i could plug up but I don't know. Some articles say to just rest some say to keep active. what would you recommend?
How often do you go to the gym and what do you do while there?
We need to know what you are and aren't doing so we can help fill in any necessary gaps on days off, if needed.
I go gym on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays. (just a gap in between)
here is my general workout:
15min cardio on the treadmill
15min on the rowing (110Watts average)
3 workout on the upper body (weight lifting)
2 workout on the lower body
3 workout on the core
3-4min cool down
stretch
BTW ty for the reply
I love walking, it's great, and it's really good exercise, people take it for granted, but if you walk at a good pace for atleast 30 mins...i think that'd be good for your day off for the gym, it's less strenuos on your body then running is.
Yes, I agree with j-fizz and was going to say the same thing. If you can manage 50 minutes, even better. If you are pretty fit, it will be hard to get your heart rate up to an aerobic level, but you don't really have to do that, anyway. I have to walk really fast and sometimes, I just prefer to stroll. It's an "off" day, anyway. I try to run every other day and am adding a strength training program which I'll do weekends and one day/week, probably. I try to walk on days I don't run.
I hated walking up until recently and now that I've been doing it in a park more, I love it! Walking in town doesn't thrill me but we have a pretty 3-mile route around a lake so that's not too bad.
Good luck.
Sounds like you have a great total body workout going on at the gym. I say, take it easy on those off days and do a nice walk like others have said. Your routine is inspiring, though. Keep up the great work!
thanks all, really helped.
Can I just add my 1.5 cents? Don't know what your ultimate goal is, but if it's weight loss, the two best things you can do (according to lots of research) is limiting calories and weight training. Adding cardio to the mix may actually slow down your progress, because as you stress your body more it reacts by going into a protective mode.
Running long distances or doing the treadmill and such are very inefficient ways of losing fat.
Frankly, I wouldn't work with weights four days a week either. Too much constant stress on the body.. limit your lifting to 2-3 days, and always go to failure on your excercises... one warmup and one all out effort is all you need.
Your body needs time to recover, so take Fido for a relaxing walk and drink lots of ice water.
Ok, maybe that was 3 cents.
