Alright I am with you!(in the save the earth thing)
Bump
Hm.  I'm not sure if I follow the increase in mass argument.

Babies don't come out of nowhere.  They're made out of materials already existing on the Earth, in essence.  Don't see where new magical mass comes from.

Hug a whale instead.

Still trying to figure out if I can make it to DC that week (not looking likely...may end up with the in-laws...life ain't fair).
cheap hotels

Sort by price and see some for under $100 a night
Most of the hotels in Arlington are safe.  The three that were recommended to me (by a Police Officer) are:

Hilton Garden Inn $90 a night (right next to Police Station)

Hyatt Rosslyn $89 a night

Best Western -Key Bridge $74 a night

All are near Metro stations.
Count me in!! I would not miss seeing you guys again!!

Abby + Neil = 2 guests!! :)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*dances a jig of happiness*
:D :D :D :D
Yeah Abby!!
I told you guys I Wanted to see you again!! I'm in.
Storks bring the babies to earth from never-never land.  Then we lose pounds and send them to hell.

So you see, science and logic dictates that the earth will spin ito the sun.

RUN!!!

Everyone run!! the sun is coming!!!!

It's been a week or so; how're the challenges going?

  • jag: 6 pounds
  • longwalker: 8 pounds
  • kallie: 8 pounds
  • glinda: 10 pounds
  • athene: 10 pounds
  • kimne: 10 pounds
I've pretty much behaved myself, have gone on some nice bikerides which burn calories like crazy, and am either up 4.5 pounds, down 2 pounds, or the same. Most consistent reading shows an increase in weight, however. I am not amused...
Any thoughts yet on where to meet and what to do?  Will this be a two day event?  I'd like to book my room and train fare soon.
Well, I think the idea of having the ACTUAL get-together be in a sit down restaurant or some such is a good idea.

I know glinda's booking near Fairfax and jag0666 is looking around Arlington/Alexandria, so... we could meet either in the Arlington area (but not the mall again), or maybe downtown.

I know that some people are here for a full weekend, so there'll probably be more than just the sit down meal, if others would like to join!
The Arlington Suites hotel looks pretty interesting.  It has a sitting area, a little dining area, in addition to the sleeping area, like a studio apartment.

A room there would be a good place to just hang out and get out of the heat, and it's only $89.  I just have to figure out where the metro stop is.

Getting excited as it draws closer and closer!

My self assigned weigh in isn't until next week so we shall see!
I'm having a hard time deciding which deal I want to go with.  I found a deal that is about $90 cheaper than most other deals, but it's through BWI and a half hour trip to DC.  It's only two blocks away from the red line station though.  hrmmm
I can tell you, Ben, that taking the Metro to and from BWI is a bit of a pain. The Bus comes every 40 minutes, so.. bring a book. Also... the traffic on 295 can be bad.

If you can afford it, I suggest taking the one going into Reagan.
If it is open to anyone, I would possibly like to join. I will be in the DC area the 26-28 for an HIV transmission conference, so I should be there the day before? It's questionable, but please keep posting updates. It would be appreciated.
