DDR

Quote  |  Reply
My husband bought us a DDR game and pad. I've been playing it just about every day this week and have lost 2 lbs so far.  It's super fun.  Has anyone else tried to exercise this way? We read about how this lady tracked her DDR playing and food intake and lost almost 100 lbs!

Heh, there is already a DDR thread here, but I'll reply anyhoo, just because I love DDR. X3

I used to play every day when I had working dance pads *saving up for a good metal pad right now after my modded soft pads were mistreated*, but since I don't have new pads yet and I have yet to figure out how to re-wire everything in the living rooms entertainment center set up ( it's NOT your a-typical tv set up... Da's a tech nut, and a neat freak wrapped into one. I have no idea how the heck he has the whole system set up, and the PS2 can't plug in directly to the tv like you would normally ).

But I do play at LEAST one or two times a week at the local mall arcade, on Extreme, 4 games, 4 songs each game. Sadly it's stuffy and hot as heck in that arcade, so event he most advanced players can't last long without sweating and panting up a storm ( and the owner is NEVER there. His poor lackey gets stuck dealing with the customers. Plus the owner NEVER replies to customers emails or complaints. I can't tell you how many times we DDR'ers have placed complaints about the heat and stuffiness, and requested that he install a fan or something by the DDR machine. )

My friend, Tammy, plays every night for an hour on SuperNOVA at her place, wearing her jacket, using her new foam pad, and it's doing her WONDERS. Since I don't have access to DDR all the time, I do another Japan based game, Para Para Paradise ( well, the dance routines... no PS2 hooked up means no game ). 20 minutes of para para dancing and I'm POOPED.

HI.  I don't think I'm brave enough to play in public!  We are playing the SuperNova game also.  My bones and muscles ACHE from playing this week. I'm getting half way decent at it though.  It really is a work out, especially for those of us who have been lazy lately.
It actually isn't too embarrassing to play in public. My opinion, at least, because I really don't care what the kids whom play think ( they play to impress each other with super high scores, but they BARELY move on the pad, meaning not much of a work out.

These kids at last years AnimeNEXT MOVED on the pads, and did more than one round ( they pretty much became the head players that Friday night ). THEY got a dang good workout, as did the guy playing doubles later on.

haha... i remember playing this against this one kid... he was so fast ... he got a "AAA" rank on the Challenge level with the song "Paranoia" and I scored a "B" on it on standard mode. I wish I could move like that.
I used to play it all the time in arcades a couple of years ago, and owned Dancing Stage Suromix and Partymix (the European versions) and got pretty good at it.

Unfortunately I lost those games but I've just recently got Supernova. The songs aren't as good in my opinion but the workout mode is so much better!

You can get it to measure the workout by calories burned and length of time played. At the moment I'm doing at least half an hour on the difficult workout mode every day and playing on the Stellarmaster section as well.

It might seem hard at first but if you start at beginner and work your way up it quickly becomes easy. It's definitely the funnest way to lose weight :)
