I just wanted to ask everyone who has gone through anorexia recovery/is going through it now, how did you deal when you saw that you had gained those first few pounds? I think if I hear how everyone else got past it, I'll be able to handle it better without falling backwards into bad eating habits.
Thanks everyone! I couldn't do this without you!
T he first bit really is the hardest and it does get easier to deal with. initally you may not feel positive about it but hold on and the more you feed your body and become healthier you actually begin to see yes this is hard but it the right thing to do , im going to get a life be healthy. try not to focus on the numbers to much in the beginning when your body is trying to start working again it can give a false reading due to the body balancing things up . I try and think of it as weight restoration not gain , you are building your body up to the bare minimal it should be , this is repairing your organs , building your muscle all making you healthy use the weight gain weigh in forum we can all help suport you on yourway and help support you . so it does get easier it has for me , so when you get on the scales and the fear sets in try to think of all the reasons you are doing this for you for a life to be free h x
Not the best thing u can become aware of, but its necessary in this progress... your mind is still malnourished, so you cant apprehend the gain as you should, as you will after you get better.
Just dont give up! You really have to hold by your goals, and you'll succed! Dont let ed control your entire life, you have no time to waste!
As you become heathier (well nourished), as will be easier to see more realistic your state, your body, and your disease, trust me! There will be bad and good days, but never forget you deserve more!!!
We are all here!
Gaining weight is always difficult to deal with, Im currently in recovery and gaining and I admit I struggle to accept it at times. What helps me through is like what the others have said, think about how you are repairing your body.
Sometimes its the other little things that help to pull me through though like when Im really underweight no clothes fit me or look good on me so by gaining I`ll be able to wear nice clothes again.
When underweight I cant do the things Id like to do like go out places, do certain things etc but by gaining weight I will be able to do those things.
So I just think of a few things like above and try to let that help me through. It is really hard to cope with but it is also worth it.
I guess for me I have better mental times and harder. I try to remind myself the goal is to gain and that the fear and anxiety is part of the process of recovery from I would think most things. Just try to stay in the day and what you have to do. I know for myself and many here the fear of it to keep going and going weight gain is often so staying in the day and worring about that if it ever happens then has been key. Also what in life you want to gain that being underweight takes away.
Thank you all so much for being here for me, and for each other. This site has probably saved my life, and I am so thankful that it is here.
