how do you deal when you go over?
What do you guys do when you go over daily calorie allotment? I know you're not really supposed to eat less the next day to make up for it and I know you can exercise a little more to compensate but what else? I'm trying not to feel guilty because it's only by a little and I'm trying to eat more anyway and nothing I've eaten is particularly harmful, but I still feel rather digusted with myself.
Any advice?

Well, you listed the options. You can either 1. Exercise more to compensate for it (my choice), 2. Eat a little lighter the next day, or 3. Write it off as a bad day and start over the next day. Like I said, I would personally work out a little bit more to X off the extra calories.
i lift when i over eat, at least some of it will go into muscle then.
no, restricting your self for days after isnt recommended, unless you really blew it.

good idea
if i didn't over-eat ("binge on) anything that contained fat, like say it was mostly vegetables that I was eating, will the weight i do gain be gained as fat? i've often wondered but never gotten a straight answer.
No, veggies are mostly carbs. But your body doesn't distinguish I don't think.. I think it would be hard to overeat veggies.. since usually a cup or more of veggies is still < 100 calories or so. But still, if you did.. you could exercise the extra cals off.
What do you mean when you say that the body doesn't distinguish? I'm not trying to be a pain, but I've never known how the body stores excess carbs if not as fat, and I'd always assumed that without enough exercise, which varies for different people, excess anything wouldn't be converted to muscle, therefore it would become fat. Was I wrong? I really have no idea.
thats true, over eating on carbs is one thing, but then over eating on fat/protien is another.
the fat/protien will be converted to muscle, while the carbs probably wont.

The best thing to do when you go over....is go to bed, and wake up the next morning starting fresh. Don't feel guilty... don't over compensate. Just wake up and start good the next day. :) That's the trick to loose weight, keep it off, and be healthy!

Yep. Pick yourself up. Dust yourself off. And while you're enjoying a nice slendering glass of water or cup of green tea, plan your healthy menu for tomorrow and make sure you give yourself a planned treat too -- something to look forward to!
We all have crap days. Life is what gets in the way while we're making other plans.
We still love you, so be sure and still love yourself!

I usually avoid going over my calories by giving myself a range of calories from day to day. I know that i dont ever want to eat less than 1400 and no more than 1800. I am supposed to eat 1800-2000 to maintain.
I try not to be too hard on myself, and then I just treat my body well for the next 2 or 3 days...veggies only type deal. This has been happening a lot lately...winter blues!!!
