December to New Year's Eve Challenge & Recipe Exchange (no monday weigh-ins!)

Quote  |  Reply

**THIS CHALLENGE IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW MEMBERS**

I have been gaining all year.  Since Thanksgiving is over, and I am burned-out on turkey, stuffing & gravy, I thought it would be great to start a mini-challenge to keep me on-track through the rest of the holidays.  Also, since weight is not the only marker of progress, I want to post measurements as well.  AND... since this is about lifestyle and not dieting, cooking really is a very important thing.  So I'd like to exchange recipes for the week so we can all learn some new stuff.  Chat is encouraged too.

The weigh/measure-ins will begin on December 3rd, Wednesday.  The following are what we are going to report...

  • GW
  • CW
  • Bust-Waist-Hips (in inches, please)
  • Worst Food-Choice of the Week
  • Best Food Choice of the Week
  • Recipe to Exchange

The recipes exchanged should be in the database here on CC.com.  You can link them in your post.  That way we can all see the nutritional values and I can determine the healthiest ones impartially w/o having to enter them myself.  There will be announcements on Fridays for the following...

  • Week's Biggest Weight-Loser
  • Week's Biggest Inches-Loser
  • Week's Healthiest Recipe(s)

The challenge winners will be determined by the largest percentage of loss and the person with the largest number of healthiest recipes. Winners will be announced on Thursday, January 1st, 2009.

Go ahead and introduce yourself.  Tell us your age, height, beginning weight, how long you have been working at it, your current weight and your goal.  Let us know if you have any other goals and what you do with your time, what kind of exercise you take,....  Lets get to know one-another.

I'm freakin' freezing!  I mean, if I sit here much longer my fingers, legs, from the knees-down, and my nose will fall off from frostbite!  That's what's keeping me going.  That and, my guy has been happier lately.  Makes a huge difference in my life.

Perhaps buggyhair will be pleased to know that I have decided NOT ot drive to Kroger for Vegenaise in order to make my hub's road-trip tomorrow, but have opted instead, to make my own mayo with XVOO with my new immersion blender.  Will that keep me from being sanctioned?

Not so sure if that was meant to be insulting, in jest.  I'd actually love to be Canadian.  I'm kinda scared here in America.

::giggles:: The beaver is a national symbol & can been found on our nickel.

I would just like to interject and say this morning I was 154 again. Normally I don't weigh myself every day, but I was so dang po'ed about 155.5 when last week I finally broke 154 at 153.5.

Sorry. I feel better now. =)

Hopefully I'll do better next Wednesday.

I want to take a trip to Canada. Soon. But that means I have to get fiance a passport. =(

Beavers are a nickel a dozen in the great white north, eh

It was -3 this morning when I laced up my sorrel's, donned my mad bomber hat, zipped into a sub-zero coat, pulled gloves on that seriously need replacing, fired up the snow dragon and proceeded to spend an hour and a half blowin' snow.

 down a pound this AM...

homemade mayo=yum

I think mayo is evil....homemade or not!  Never could get into mayo.

Can one purchase a measuring tape at Target? Anyone know where it might be?

most likely, try thier sewing section, or ask one of their minions.

thinks, wow for a buck I could have a herd of angry beavers

wonders, what the shipping costs would be

ponders, could 20 beavers wreck civilization as we know it

smiles..............

Check in the sewing dept.  Or, at any sewing store.

buttons fascinate me, my fascination of buttons does not fascinate sewing department flunkies that cannot assuage my button needs

I wish I could just have stuff beamed into my house. That way, I wouldn't have to venture into the general public when my nose is all red and stuffy and I don't feel that great.

I do!  Its called internet shopping.  It takes for freakin ever but its a great lazy way to shop.  Another thing you can do to take measurements is to use a peice of string, mark it with your finger and hold it up next to a tape measure, like the kind for renovating your kitchen with.  It works.  You can also use a ruler or even find a tool online that shows inches and print it off.  There has got to be a way to measure body dimensions w/o leaving your house.

^all brilliant ideas

Excellent! *clasps hands together towards chin, squints eye and raises eyebrow*

I took myself out to dinner tonight and figued out why I have been gaining weight.

Haha! That was cute.

So it appears that I have everyone's info to start the challenge except moonikins.  If she doesn't get her info posted soon I will assume her DOA.

Next Wednesday night is the DL for submissions of our first week.  I will be tallying-up the results Thursday morning and will issue announce the winners no later than Friday.

The thread is now closed to new members.
