OK, one more time
Who is a part of our small group?????
I am :) And ready to get started :)![]()
teenerqm- Welcome back!! I am with you. I will weigh in Friday.
Jen -
I am still here.
Awesome Ladies
So what have you gals been doing this New Year to get closer to your goal?
I've been doing NOTHING yet, but the day has come ![]()
My life is getting back to normal so STARTING Friday January 30 2009 I will for one week::::::::
-#1- TAKE MY THYROID PILL EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Yes I miss a lot)
-#2- count my calories just for breakfast ( slow and steady wins the race) &nbs p; & nbsp;
To know for ONE week what I normaly eat will help. I plan to include my Lunch in the counting next week. I eat the same things most time, so this should give me an idea of where to cut back :) So my plan is to after week 3 have all 3 meals counted. And by week 4 making BETTER FOOD CHOICES.
- #3-As for movement, well .... take ONLY the stairs at work
OK I better STOP there or I'll muck it up. I'm going to write out my weekly goals and hang it by my alarm clock so I will see it EVERY DAY!!!
OH and I will try to get on here twice a week.
I think I can I think I can...
I'm here! So, good week for me. I spent a lot of time in the gym and kept reasonable portions at home. Today's weight is 177. Yay! Made my goal for the week. Goal next week is to be 175 or lower.
Stern note to Teenergm: Don't forget the Thyroid pills! My mom had to take those. She often forgot and, sadly, it led to other health problems. Stay healthy. :)
Dear Tennegm,
I really miss it when you forget to feed me. Please remember your pill - my food.
Sincerely yours,
Teenergm's thyroid
Hi all,
Fell off the wagon and gained 1 pound this week. I did not exercise as I should and ate all sorts of things that I have been avoiding. I am going to try again to stay under 1600 this week regardless of my exercise. I just seem to have lost my motivation for the time being.
Just wanted to add GO STEELERS
I'm here, though my weight loss efforts aren't completely successful right now - I'm having issues still!
LOL
Thanks all for your help with my pills :) I did take it today, but yesterday I was 4 hours late in taking it. BUT I still took it!
-What is everyone's Starting weight and age and height? (did you already do this, did I miss it somewhere?)
-What is your End Goal?
-Do your short term goals change as much as mine??? lol :)
ME
I'm going on 32.
I'm 5 foot 3, and I weight 178 pounds.
By December I'd LOVE to be 140 pounds.
So my GOAL is to WORK OFF 38 pounds.
(OMG, I just realized WHEN I reach my goal my 13y old son will weigh MORE than me, LOL!!!! There Dalston chew on that, HA!!) .. my son is NOT over weight, He's almost 6 foot tall. I think he carries all is weight in his size 13 feet.
Hi all,
My stats:
Age 43
Height 5' 5"
Starting weight : Starting CC March 2008: 234
Begining of challenge : 189
1/30: 190
Goal weight for June: 165
Goal weight for good: 144 by December 2009
(Teenerqm -My son just turned 14 and he is 6'1" and has size 13's too. Blows my mind that I gave birth to him. He is also about 140 soaking wet. Apparently not my gene pool.
)
So far this week I have done the elliptical for 35 min on Sun and today and walked on the treadmill today for 15 so I am back on track for the week
Jen
Weight when I started losing: 267
Current weight: 203 (Which honestly seriously disappoints me)
Age: 24
Height: 5'9" (ish)
End goal: Hopefully somewhere in the 160s? I honestly can't remember the last time I weighed that low! Probably in grade school.
My goal right now is to try and work out more. I had to buy a huge fan for when I do... I mean, its Cleveland, in the middle of winter, SNOWING outside, and I'm wearing a tank and shorts. And after 10 minutes on my elliptical, I'm so overheated that I have to STOP.
Ah! I totally forgot that you said you were making this thread :O! ;.;! Oh well :S! Here I am anyway. How's every one doing this week?
Tina
Jen
Wow you have a big boy. What was his weight at birth?
Got a question
I'm in nursing, I found an activity for resident care (also in with packing boxes, LOL ya right)
so for the 7.5 hours I'm at work = 450 mins right?
so that means in one day at my work I burn 1,817 cals.
Did I do this right?
teenerqm -He was 9 lb 11 oz and 24 inches long so he had a good start ![]()
I think for that activity to be accurate you would have to be consantly moving not stopping at all so I think it may be a fair amount of calories burned but not as many as it stated.
I ran into this in the summer with gardening. They really try to give credit for the heavy tasks but you are not constantly doing any one thing without some intermittant breaks so you are credited for more than you actually do.
I use the numbers as a guide but not as gospel or I could justify eating a whole lot more than I should.![]()
Hope that helps.
Hi Tina. Welcome back!
novi -I do the same thing when I use my elliptical. I have been known to turn off the heat and crack the window while I'm exercising (Don't tell my husband). We are outside of Pittsburgh and it's crazy but I do it.
artistsusan -great job on meeting your goal!
Jen
teenerqm - I agree with Jen. Make sure you're not counting the time you spend on breaks, either. For my job, there are two different listings that describe what I do. But I only do the more difficult one for a portion of my day, normally around 70%, but still not for a set time limit. So I use the smaller one and credit myself for my full shift (including breaks) to make up for not using the larger one. It seems to even out. Is there another listing that comes close to what you do?
I just weighed in at 200.8. I'm trying not to get excited about it because I'm afraid it will flip flop again.
Friday and my weight stayed the same this week. Of course, TOM is visiting this week so hopefully next week will be better.
Hey Guys!
Sounds like you've all had a decent week. That's great! Well I weighed in today at 210.4 :S... At first I was a little bummed but in actuality I've been trying to do some more light weight training to tone a bit, and my clothes fit better... so I suppose just this once I'll pretend like the weight doesn't matter so much, lol.
Have a great week-end everyone!
Tina
Just a complaint... Have you found that, after losing a semi-significant amount of weight, your overweight friends try to sabotage your efforts? "Aw, you don't need to lose any more, men like a girl with some meat on her bones!" "You're getting too skinny, you need to eat more!" At over 200 pounds, I'm NOT getting too skinny. They just think I am beause they're not getting any skinnier. And instead of watching me lose more and prove that if you put in the effort you CAN do it, they want me to get fat again so they can sit there and talk about how its impossible for them to be skinny because its not in their genes. And how SOME people (ie, that skinny girl over there who's NOT eating three choco muffins) just are natrually skinny.
I think I need new friends.
Novileigh,
I understand your frustration. I'm getting sabotage attempts from my overweight (200+lbs) teenage step-daughter. She complains about my smaller portions and the weight starting to come off. I cannot talk about my diet or she gets angry. It's as if she thinks I'm betraying the sacred body acceptance sisterhood or something. Almost all the time now she talks about food she wants me to go eat with her.
Her:"Hey, I'm really in the mood for some ice cream. Let's go get some."
Me: "I can't have any, but I'm happy to take you if you'd like."
Her:"Nevermind, I don't want any if you're not going to have any."
Another time-
Her:"I need your help to lose weight. I don't know what I'm doing wrong."
Me: "Sure! It's really just matter of watching your calorie intake and output. Excercise a little more, and you should cut back on the amount of soda you drink."
Her:"So you think I should cut back to like 3 glasses of soda a day?"
Me:"I was thinking more like cutting back to 3 glasses of soda per week. You should be drinking water when you're thristy. Soda is straight sugar water. Anyway you could try some juice mixed with sparkling water."
Her:"A week! But I love soda, it's my favorite thing. I don't see why I should have to completely change my life just because society says so and you're really not helping. The only people I'm related to who are skinny starve themselves and live at the gym to get there!"
So, yeah, it happens to all of us. Dinner is the most dangerous diet time for me because I'm always tempted to be social and eat the same huge amounts I used to eat, skip the salad but not the dessert, then go veg out on the couch. It's a choice I make every single day and it's tough. I have some skinny friends, and I know that they also make this choice everyday. It's the choices we make which define who we are. Today I choose to be fit.
OMG
You gals, sounds like your doing good. What is the one thing you think has made a difference this week?
Sabotage, yes I to have seen some of this. It's like people are afraid of change. Like if you loose weight, look good and FEEL good about yourself then, why hang out with "us" your fat friends, kinda thing :(
Jen - My son too was around that size. He was 9lb 2oz and almost 23 long. When his brother Mavrick (at 6lb 5oz )was born 9 years later it looked like Dalston could have eaten him :)
Well I've finally can add to the weight loss this week :) I weight myself when I'm at work, shoes and all. So by that scale I've lost 2 pounds. BUT by my new scale I just bought, and me in my housecoat I weighed 171 pounds :) So that's 7 pounds down :) I will now only use my home scale with housecoat.
Group weight loss
I was wanting to start a group weight loss tracker. The total weight of all us, then week by week see what our total weight loss would be. They do this on TV and it's kinda neat :) Does this make scene? So in order to do this I'll need everyone's START weight as of Jan1 2009. And your to date weight. I'll (or someone who can get on puter more) will update once a week :)
Now we can only do this if everyone wants to. Or does anyone have any other suggestions?
