When do you decide it is enough?

Quote  |  Reply

Hello Everyone! So I was working out today and I was thinking to myself "When is it enough?"

What I mean is, when do you decide that you are done losing weight? When do you decide to not go to the next step, and start to lose too much weight? When do you look in the mirror and say ' wow this is what I have been working for!" When are you thin enough?

Start with the BMI.  A healthy normal BMI range is between 20 and 25.  Lower than that is when health problems can start to appear.  Where you sit within the range is a matter of personal opinion to a certain extent.

Should you opt for a lower weight ask yourself the following.  1.  Are you getting adequate nutrition and your full energy needs? and 2.  Is your body functioning normally e.g. regular periods?

If the answer to either of those is 'no'... you're either having to keep restricting calories in order to maintain the low weight or your body is showing physical signs of stress then that probably means you've lost too much.

I completely agree with gi-jane.

However, it starts to get real fuzzy in cases like mine, I was never overweight to begin with and just wanted to lose weight for vanity reasons.

Now I eat healthy and I'm more fit than ever and I've surpassed my goal weights twice. I'm not satisfied with any number, and I don't think there will ever be a day where I look in the mirror and think that there is no work left to be done.

So from experience, it's really important to set a limit from the get-go, and to know from the beginning how far is enough, because the lower you get, the more you want to lose.

good luck:)
