Is my deficit too high?
My burn meter says that I burn somewhere around 2050kcal a day and that my goal intake is 1450...my problem is that if I walk the dogs for 45mins and throw in some weigh lifting or any sort of excersize I'm looking at a burn average of 2500kcal a day and my intake goal is still the same obviously...that gives me a deficit of about 1000cals....is this too much? It seems like it would be, is it going to make my body shut down on weight loss???? ![]()
are you eating the 1450 every day? are you doing the same activity 7 days a week that results in a 1000 cal daily deficit?
If so- then you should be dropping 2 lbs a week. are you? I think 1000 cal deficit per day is ok, I would not go more than that. Healthy weightloss is up tot 2lb weekly.
To be honest I'm not really sure how much I'm dropping. I just restarted on here on the 18th so I'm trying to be very careful in what I'm eating and making sure to get some sort of excersize in. I do average about 2500 burned a day, more if I get time to excersize and I've been trying really hard to stick with the 1450 a day...I'm not perfect, I go between 1450 and 1600 so I'll have to see what the results are. I just wanted to make sure that I'm not shocking my body into retaining weight...thanks so much for the input though!
I have been having about 1000-1500 deficients and havent lost a pound.
I burn around 2500-3000 per day
I intake about 1300-1600 per day
What am I doing wrong???
How long have you been working at losing weight and how different is your new caloric intake from what you were eating freely?
i too found i had sufficient deficits, but was not losing-- in fact i gained. i have realized that due to my under-estimating what i was eating, my deficits were probably not there and in fact were simply me over-eating and guessing on portions. i am now going to start weighing and measuring more precisely.

You need to eat more. 1000 is MAXIMUM deficit anyone should have a day.
Eat closer to 1800-2000 calories a day.
OK so I am along the same lines...I am now burning around 3000 calories a day and was only eating around 1300. I realized that this was not enough food. So the last two days I have increased my calorie intake and now i have gained 1.5 lbs since Friday.
Could this be from my body readjusting to getting more calories?
Yes, there will be an increase in weight, but if you stick to it, the weight will drop as quickly as it came. ^^
