deficit or junk food?

Quote  |  Reply

I ended up not eating much today. Not really sure why, but I'm at about 550 cal and i burned extra playing soccer (burn meter says I'll hit 2000 today).

I'm too exhausted to cook enough healthy food to make up the difference. So, is it better for me to just go to bed right now and eat a lot tomorrow to make up for it or should I go get food even though it'll probably be taco dip and tostitos lime tortilla chips? I'm so addicted to that stuff.

Edited to add:  I got the taco dip & chips.  I noticed when I was in the store that the thought of eating low cal but filling foods made me sick.  The feeling's only gone now that I"m halfway through the tray of dip.  Does anyone else feel sick to the stomach when they don't eat enough?  It happens to me all the time which can interfere with remedying the problem.

injoy the chips

I play soccer, too, and I always eat afterwards. I would be too hungry the next day if I didn't. Where do you play/league?

It's an intramural group through the University rec department.  We're quite awful but it's fun.  Today most of our team was down from injuries.  We only had 2 girls & 3 guys for the first half making us 2 players down.  I couldn't rotate out at all.

This was my first time playing in over a year - I had a back injury for the past two weeks that had me on bed rest during our first games.

Your body slows down its metabolism if your deficit is too large.  Having too large of a calorie deficit will make you feel lowsy, both physically and emotionally -- so things that would normally be acceptable (making a simple meal, eating a few veggies) revolt you.  Eating a small higher calorie snack should get you out of the doldrums enough to do something a little healthier with the rest of your calories.  In general, you need to do better planning to avoid such a large deficit.
