oats: [150]

8 oz of milk [140]

1 tbsp of crunch peanut butter [100]

1oz of sliced almonds [160]

1 oz of raisans [100]

1 tbsp of natural honey [120]

am i off somewhere? granted this is off the top of my head :)

great idea though!! is it yummy? you could also mix in craisins instead of raisins and macadamia nuts or pecans...with maple syrup instead of honey. just an idea!! :)

o sorry i forgot to mention the oats.

You use 1/2 cup uncooked which makes 1 whole cup so it equals 300 calories. so add 150 more. =]

I'm pretty sure this is the correct nutritional information for your oatmeal recipe.

You know when the back of the oatmeal box says "150 calories per 1/2 cup uncooked oats" and you add 1 cup of water to cook them, and then theres magically 1 cup of cooked oats, it doesn't mean you double the calories. All the oats did was absorb the water, adding zero calories. You never added more oats into the equation, there is only 1/2 cup uncooked oats (130 cal) + 1 cup h20 (0 cal) = 1 cup cooked oats (130 cal).

"Mass can neither be created nor destroyed"....

Wait so 1 cup of oatmeal is only 130 calories?

I usually count mine as 160, but yes.

The oatmeal that I use is 130, but other brands are usually 150-160. But yes, only that many calories are in 1 cup of cooked oats, you don't double the calories just because the end product is doubled ;)

Then i should be eating 2 cups because ive been counting it as double this whole time. =[

cant wait till tommorow 2 whole cups of oatmeal for me !!!!

thank you guys im so happy.

Haha, sorry to burst your bubble :(

you didnt burst it you actually made it better now i can eat double the amount of my favorite food =]

well then you have to double your mix ins :) or else it will be less flavorful...lol.

Not for me I love oats !!! They are the best.

Seriously though I have oatmeal for breakfast everyday they have helped me so much on upping my calories .

ahh my life would be horrible without my oatmeal.

Usually oatmeal supplies me with 800 calories, 20-30 g of fat , 100 carbs, 20 g of protein.

Seriously =]

This is an old thread but took my eye as I'm an avid oatmeal eater and cook steel cut oats in rice cooker for 5-6 day supply then just reheat in microwave.

Some of the milk (all of it for me) can be replaced with ricotta or cottage cheese/

Fresh or frozen blueberries, raspberry, blackberry added are good.

For those hooked on Nutella, use that in place of PB and sweetener.

Chopped walnuts do the trick for me and give the right fat content for my plan.

Don't forget cinnamon and nutmeg too.

Moderations are numerous and luscious!Wink
