Oh wow that sucks. I have had some really crappy roommates in my day, too. It makes you feel so violated to have your stuff pawed through and stolen, I'm so sorry.

There's probably nothing you can do except get out of there ASAP. Are you in a position to leave quickly if you find a new place?

steal it back next time they leave - remove yourself and all your belongings to an undisclosed secure location and never darken their door again

Or leave immediately.. and take something of theirs that is expensive and/or valued for hostage. Offer to give it back if they give you YOUR stuff back. If not, then at least there's ebay.

Take what nomo said and up the ante to soaking their fundies in the liquid that habaneros come in, dry them and put them back in their drawer.

what the hell!? i think i'd call the cops if i were you. seriously. don't call 911 or anything obviously, but call the police station, and report it as a theft.

if that were your computer or jewelry or something you'd call the cops right? this isn't any different! just because they are roommates doesn't mean they can do that! 

jules you are 100% right, but sadly it won't do anything unless filing a police report scares the roommates into returning her items. If the roommates hold firm that those items are theirs and they are in possession of them, she is out of luck. She would have to be able to prove those items are hers.

haha although I'm enjoying thinking about calling the police on random neighbors and saying "they have my clothes" and the police going over there and taking all their crap and giving it to me on my word.

sprio, i have a feeling an officer showing up at the door would do just that. scare the CRAP out of them! it would definitely make some kind of impression. better than doing nothing!!

Right now, take a sharpie to the tags of ALL your remaining clothes. Put a small signature on the back, where they won't be likely to see it. If they steal anymore, your name will be on it.

Also, document all your things in hand written form, take pictures, write EVERYTHING that you own down, and submit that to the police. Have a witness, or two, present while you do this.

I don't know if this will do any good. But I think it would help prove your case if anything happens...

I totally agree and I think she should do that. Hopefully they'll drop it and give her that stuff back!

I still vote for burning their bums.

Can't imagine being in that situation, I would take them back if you can when they aren't around. Also try to find receipts, and pictures of you wearing anything they took, also maybe witnesses that know those are your things, and try with the police...hopefully it will scare them into giving it back.

dumb roommates...that's why I live alone!  Anyway, burn their bums!  Sounds like an excellent idea to me and I wish I would have thought of it when I had crappy roommates.  Also, go take your stuff back and leave.  What kind of person goes through someones stuff???  Who cares if you THINK they have your stuff!!  Stay the F#$@ out of the rest of it!  Man I'm fuming!!  I just can't understand rude people!

I have no advice but to get out as soon as humanly possible.

I had a roommate steal my car one time when she was drunk/high to drive illegal immigrant drug dealers to a party. That sucked.

An old "friend" stole my car and took it three states away. Hey thanks Cynthia I still hate you.

I would call the cops on them if they were holding my wardrobe hostage. Then take my clothes and the rest of my stuff and stay with a friend or parent.
