Not what you want to hear, but considering your past, I'd hate to see anyone respond to this with any suggestions other then to see your doctor for a healthy diet plan.
As for your boyfriend's suggestion to start with 700 calories over a period of 3 to 4 weeks, that is extremely unhealthy advice. That's just not enough calories to fuel your body.
I wish I could give you more support but at the least, all I can recommend is what you see on here over and over........ eat more then 1,200 calories, eat healthy, and if you have a history of an eating disorder, don't be afraid to work with a doctor and/or a nutritionist.
I'm hoping for the best for you.
I would probably jump right to at least 1200, then slowly increase from there. Increments of 50 might be too insignificant, maybe 100 instead.
700 calories for so long is very unhealthy. May I make a suggestion other than going to a doctor/ nutritionist (which is really the best advice!!!). Start with a filling and healthy breakfast and try eating something small every 2-3 hours. If your concern is really your metabolism first and trying to get out of "starvation mode", the only way to achieve that is to eat...! You don't have to eat a lot and unhealthy foods. Eat small portions but well balanced "meals" 6-7 times a day (trying to get at least 1200 calories) to get out of starvation mode....like:
1 hb egg w/ 1/2 english muffin and a slice of tomato (for breakfast) but again in 2 hrs (even if you're not hungry) have the rest of the english muffin with 1 tspn cream cheese or 1oz cheese or if really you're not hungry and you don't want the muffin have 8oz of skim milk....!!! Do you know what i mean? That way you'll make your body "digesting" all the time but not overworking it and that way you'll get out of the starvation mode. You may experience weight gain at the very beggining but as your body starts realizing that will get the food every 2-3 hrs will stop "holding on" the excess carbs and fats (which it does on starvation mode because "doesn't know" when will get the next meal). Good luck and sorry for the long msg.
If you want to increase your caloric intake but don't want to have that full bloated feeling, try adding some healthy nuts and oils to your diet. Especially olive oil. Olive oil is very good for you. Also, for snacks, try healthy nuts like walnuts and almonds, preferably NOT salted. Good luck! I respect that you are tyring to change your lifestyle!
seriously ur boyf shud be put against a wall and shot for that advice
( an expression, but still!)
u need to see a THERAPIST or at least ur doctor. ur history of ED behaviours have not been and will not be overcome by urself.
i would suggest counselling and a nutritionist.anyone with even a basic knowledge of nutrition wud not for a moment consider 700cals a day![]()
Hey everyone thanks for your responses. I know that I need to see a nutritionist/doctor, but right now I am not mentally ready to do this. I will seek that sort of help when I feel ready enough. My boyfriend is not trying to hurt me in anyway, he had an eating disorder before and he healed himself so he is trying to help me through this. I am glad I asked about it though because it's great to get everyone elses input. It seems like the majority so far think that I should jump right into 1200 or more. I like the advice about eating small meals multiple times a day, it's kind of like snacking all day I guess.
Thanks everyone, if anyone else has opinoins about the 700 v more calories per day to start please keep them coming!
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
