If you are really concerned I would go see a Gynecologist. Some times GPs' are just too general. Maybe someone who is more familar with the female system can help. Good luck.

I agree. Schedule and appointment with a gyno and tell them what's going on! They may need to change the type of birthcontrol you are on in order to regulate your system.

Okay... I'm kind of scared. Most girls don't start going until later. )=

I went to the Gyno at 14 because I had terrible periods. Don't be scared- they are there to help you. Don't ever let anyone ignore health problems you are having. Women are much more likely to have their concerns blown off.

I had to go when I was 13 years old because I got my period once and never again and began to have pain. Turned out I have PCOS and Endometreosis and because I didn't go to a OB/GYN right away, I'm stuck with alot of the side effects from PCOS for the rest of my life. My GP told me it was normal to be irregular. Yeah, ok. :/

The OB/GYN might not even do a pelvic exam right away! Don't worry, even if you have to have one...it only takes 5 minutes (of awkwardness). Smile

Yes things are irregular for you but don't panic over the birth control pill issue. I was on a low estrogen pill that caused me to have a period once every 21 days that was, seriously, about 5 hrs. And it was NOTHING. It was like spotting. There were also months when I'd have nothing at all.

Anyways, I talked to my Dr (who is a teaching Dr, btw) about this because I was around 28, sexually active, and there were times when I'd panic thinking I was preggos. He told me it is very typical to have little to no period when you are on a low estrogen pill. (Btw, I was on MinEstrin but, at one time I was on Alesse and it did the same thing.)

I also think you should go to a Gyno. It's best to go to the specialist then to dick around with a GP on this one.

Definitely go see a gynocologist.

Think of it this way, would you take your car to jiffy lube to get the transmission checked out?  Of course not, they specialize in oil changes.

With your body, your gp probably doesn't do gynocological exams with any degree of frequency (I've had 3 do them for me and none of them did them regularly, maybe 2 or 3 in a year) so they could only tell if there was something majorly wrong.  Go to a gynocologist who sees a hundred or more women a week all dealing with the reproductive processes.  They will have a much better sense for when something is wrong or when it's just that periods take time to get regular.

Go to the gyno!  I went when I was very young.  I was nine when I started my period.   They will probably put  you on the pill and your period will be light and regular.  It's no big deal!

No need to be nervous, personally I hate going to the gyno but thats just because I feel like I don't need to go. Obviously the Air Force knows better though. I've had a million types of exams done and if you are worried about pain or awkwardness, I can tell you none of them hurt and the doctors are always very proffessional. Make sure if you would feel more comfortable with a female gyno you talk to your parents about this. The more comfortable you are with your gyno the more able he or she will be to diagnose any problems if there are any.
