I wouldn't call Kate Moss healthy. She looks skeletal in every photo I've ever seen of her.

I know Tyra is now 140 - 160 lbs, and actually considered a plus size.

I always thought Kate Moss was a 0, hrm... 4 doesn't seem that small, for how she looks.

no way compared to a lot of runway models that i have seen.

oh yeah i got this info from wikipedia and http://www.fashionmodeldirectory.com

It's only okay for you to be bigger once you become a supermodel. Your average, run-of-the-mill runway model is much smaller than the supermodels you listed.
These models have "paid their dues" so to speak. Designers will work around their size because they're so famous and so good at their job.

And if you're only 5'6 like your profile says... I'm afraid that's not tall enough.

5'6 isn't tall enough to be a model.

i believe this girl is only 13, she could still have some growing to do!

i don't think kate moss's measurements are correct, there is no way she has 34 inch hips! more like 32-23-32 and she's 5'7

i agree fatcat, there is also no way kate moss and heidi klum wear the same size.

well one of the reasons I am dieting is so I can be skinny enough to be model (healthy skinny that is). I'm only 5.5 1/2 too but there are petite models. I think that's very discouraging to just assume that they are only tall models. High fashion and editorial models are usually 5 ' 10 and above, yes, but a lot of commercial models are a lot smaller than that. I'm sure it would be hard to find work if you're 4'11 or some but maybe if you look really young you could do some shots for kids wear or something. But if you want to pursue modeling you don't HAVE to be 5'9 you just have to work a little harder and you can be the next kate moss!

No matter what you want to say to yourself, you cannot be below 5'7" to become a serious fashion model. That is the bare minimum.

keep in mind that there are different types of models, and most of the ones you listed are used for modelling lingerie and make-up

runway models are the ones that are icky skinny... they are used as clothing hangers, and not much else

personally i think that the victioria secret models look WAAAAAAY better and healthier then the runway models... and i think most would agree, especially males! they have the boobs and bums and not just skin and bone.

and yes there are petite and plus size models.. but if you are really only 13, you should wait a few years to let your body develop

I always wanted to be a model -- then my height capped out at 5'5 1/2", so I decided I'd just try to work at being good-looking and happy with myself :)

i might possibly try modelling, but im still trying to lose a few more pounds first... right now im 6'1 and 154, so i definitely have the height issue resolved, but not the weight yet.. im workin on it tho lol

That's absolutely correct tofu, some of the most beautiful women out there aren't a size 0 or stick thin...  I think that's a healthy reminder to all women that you don't have to be super skinny to be beautiful!

I want to model just for myself. Do modeling pictures for me, and if for some reason someone picks up on them sweet, BUT I just want to do it for myself because it would be cool.

I want to reach my goal first though. Which is MONTHS away.

It makes me sad that when I was about 24-26 years old, I was 5'10" and weighed 135.  And back then I thought I was huge.  Now I really am huge.Cry

yeah sorry about getting Kate Moss's measurements wrong i guess they had it wrong i looked around elsewhere and saw that u were right. Sorry about that :)
