What should I do about my delicious b-day cake? Help!
Okay I went shopping today and realized that I could barely fit into the pant size I'm comfortable with in several stores! I've also been eating way too much junk food. I now know that I need to lose 5-10 pounds.
The problem is that there is a delicious homemade birthday cake in the fridge. It's mine and it's good! If I don't eat any next week everyone else will gobble it up! What should I do? I love my cake... Should I just eat one piece next week and freeze the rest? Should I just ask them to save me some? Should I let them eat it all? I wonder how long carrot cake lasts in the fridge?
I want to eat cake... but not if it will not enable me to lose weight. I wonder how much cake I can eat and still lose weight? I crave sweets all the time. I wish that my cravings would go away!
Thanks!
I suggest several things:
1) Eat the cake. One piece. DO NOT EAT MORE THAN THAT.
2)Start looking on this site for helpful tips for sweet cravings. Start looking for food ideas and work out tips.
3) Inbox me if you ever want to chat! Or anyone else for that matter; so many helpful people here!
It's your birthday cake, for crying out loud! You are allowed a piece. Let everyone else gobble it all up.
What I have found is that my sweet cravings really are a mind over matter. It takes some willpower and effort, but after a couple of weeks of having very few sweets (no, I don't cut them out completely), I am able to look at something and think, I want SOME of that, and have just a bit, or even turn it away completely.
The first poster had it right, though - there's plenty of help to be found here - lots of ideas - so look around!![]()
You have one small piece and share the with your guests. Throw any leftovers in the trash. Do not freeze it because you'll end up eating it. Voice of experience here.
Nobody else is going to agree with this, but hell, it's your birthday. Eat a couple pieces. Get it out of your system.. because if you don't, you're ALWAYS going to remember this birthday as the one you were on a diet and weren't allowed to eat a piece or two of cake. If there's ice cream, don't eat the ice cream- JUST a couple pieces of cake. And watch what you eat the rest of the day.. don't count calories that day, just eat a light breakfast (a low fat yogurt or even an English muffin with a little sugar free jelly), a light lunch (1/2 a sandwich and a cup of tomato soup?), and a small dinner (piece of chicken, 1/4 cup of brown rice, some steamed veggies, and a piece of fruit).. then have some cake! Don't look back and regret not eating it.. not the ENTIRE cake, but sure, have a couple nice sized pieces. If you don't, you're going to go to the store next week and buy another cake because the cravings from not eating as much that would satisfy your craving (ONCE A YEAR occasion- your BIRTHDAY CAKE!), are going to overcome you.. and it's better to have a few pieces of a homemade cake than a whole cake from the bakery!
It's your birthday, so eat cake! Before you have your ONE slice (make it as big as you would like! Size doesn't matter, just as long it is a slice and not a quarter or a half or even a whole! It's your birthday cake for goodness' sake!), I would suggest having a tall glass of COLD water.
Eat your cake.
Feeling full?
Good. Then stop.
It's as simple as that. c:
eat the cake!! or, just have a slice or two and let other people enjoy it too. My philosophy is that we live in a privileged country; if you have a craving, you can always make another cake or buy one.
Have a piece of cake. It's your birthday. Not a piece every day till it's gone though.
If you are calorie counting, which you should be if you are here, then figure out how many calories are in a slice and plan that into your day.
Being a fan of birthday cake myself, I went to my dad's birthday yesterday. I knew my mother had made this wondeful cake and I would want some. So I planned out my day in accordance with the fact that cake would be part of my calories for the day. I also asked her what she would be serving and figured it all into my day.
I knew when I walked into the party what I could and couldn't have in order to have the cake. I was a success and actually came in 150 calories under for the day :)
I would just have a small peice, like 1/2 or 1/4 the normal everyday until it's gone. Oh, and no other sweets or sugary drinks on those days. I find if you deny yourself what you really want it can backfire, bigtime. So, it's better to have small portions and eat slowly, savoring every bite. <3
its your birthday, and it's your cake.
i say you eat a slice or two. no more. =))))
hope the cake tastes spectacular!
Eat it! It's your birthday!
EAT IT!!!! Its your birthday fool! You only get a couple go-ahead-and-gorge days a year, make the most of it!
Happy birthday! :)
Seriously, here is my opinion: Eat the entire cake if you want to. It's your birthday cake and you will probably feel completely miserable about not having as much as you want of it. After that, start the new diet plan. That'll be like a goodbye to the constant junk food eating you.
