*to be sung to the tune of The Old Gray Mare*

This forum thread is just for Democrats

So only post to it if you're Democrat

Please show respect if you're not a Democrat

and post in your own thread....

(I noticed a post in the voting thread and thought like-minded people might want to talk to each other as results come in this evening.)

Yippee!  I was going to vote straight ticket Democrat, but the nominee for Comptroller in Texas offends me so I voted for the Republican.  Fingers crossed for Chris Bell!!!!

Yay Texas Dems!  :D

I voted for Jim Webb *crosses fingers and hopes for the best*
I'm an NC dem.  Voted pretty straight ticket, but for judge I picked the woman my husband met and really liked in one of his law classes.

'Cause, you know, judges don't really list parties.

So, I'm watching CNN right now, and they're talking about how a lot of locations are having problems with their voting machines.  Is anyone else as unsurprised as I?
I was surprised how quickly the media found out about it, but not surprised that it was happening.

I'm sorta thinking this election cycle will be all about the legal battles... we've been building to this since 2000 it seems.
Voted straight dem in Missouri, and we're one of the hot senate races.  Got my fingers crossed the dem wins, not only because it will give us an extra seat and oust an incumbant, but because the dem candidate is a woman and I love to see women in office!
I voted for Webb btw, but I live out in rural VA -- rebublican territory out here -- most people think Allen will win

but maybe they'll be rong!  :)

George Allen is an embarrassment to me...  And not really because he's republican -- because he's a doofus, a dolt, a nincomepoop.  I actually kind of like John Warner - he's more my kind of republican.
Yay, a fellow Virginian!!

I'm not old enough to vote yet but my friends, my family, and I are rooting for Jim Webb. Where I live, there's like an equal balance of republicans and democrats so it's really tight!!
I'm glad to see so many red-staters voting Democratic!

I voted a straight Democratic ticket here in MN.  The polls looked hopeful that we'll be adding a female democratic senator from here.  We had paper ballots, which seems a little outdated, but with all the voting machine problems and concerns about fraud and a lack of paper trail - I think paper ballots are the way to go!

Also a cool thing in Minneapolis... we voted on Instant Runoff Voting for city offices where you can rank candidates.  It would certainly encourage being able to vote for independents.
If I ever ran for office, it would be on the platform of election reform and would want to implement instant runoff voting statewide....
I would love to see the instant runoff voting nationwide especially so we could reasonably have more than two candidates to vote for.  Apparently they're trying to implement it city wide in some cities around the nation to prove it works and then keep expanding it.
woo! go Ned Lamont! the country needs a change. and a democrat  controlled congress will hopefully stop Bush from being the moron he truely is.

VOTE BLUE!
CAn I still come in? I didn't vote Republican but I'm technically registered Independent.
Arizona is a total red state. :-( But that won't stop me from voting blue!

I'm going to vote... right now.

BRB. :-)
saro,

I totally forgot about independents...

maybe I should have called it democrat & leaning democrat?

:)

labels are so... specifying...

yep, if you voted dem or plan to - come on in!!!!   :D
I voted democrat across the board too!! I'm from Florida, and I voted on th machine, I hope my vote actually counts!!
i just voted! straight dem here in OK!
Dare I hope that the lack of communication on the "Republican Forum" is indicative of the actual election turnout?
kellywood, I agree 100% I can't wait to see results!! So far I know 3 people (including myself) that are voting democrat, and 3 that are voting republican, and one that is unsure. Soo, if that is a reflection of the polls tonight it's a pretty close call!! LOL
You can always hope... :)

but it'd be amazing if the c-c boards can predict election outcomes...

it's much better to hope than to be pessimistic, although I've been that before too
I'm in Pennsylvania.  For the first time in my life I voted straight dem.  I'm a registered Independant and usually pick and choose my candidates carefully.  This time I was so turned off by the negative ads by Republicans I just got fed up.  According to factcheck.org, a non partisan watchdog research organization, nationwide, 91% of Republican ads were negative and most were not about issues, but about character.  The number of ads found to be untruthful or misleading was overwhelming.  The Democrats slung their share of mud, but most of the ones I saw and received in the mail were issue focused and held up to scrutiny.
