I just denied the temptation to eat some free girl scout cookies!
Wooo Hoo!
Samoas and Tagalongs are so good, but they are the devil! A co-worker just opened a packaged and offered some to me about 5 times, she even said "come on, just one! You are going running tonight anyway!"
And I STILL said "No Thanks!"
YESSS! It feels so good to not give in!!!!!!
Good for you!!
GOOD JOB!!
Congrats!
oh man you are brave. I was so peeved this yr that I didnt get any cookies, I know if it was offered I would have bought like 2 boxes.
Go you!
I have a neice that sells them and so does my BF's little sis, so we bought about 6 boxes... Luckily my BF can eat a whole box in one sitting and not gain an ounce... So jealous...
My husband bought 5 boxes of thin mints (my favorite!) before we knew we were going to have to diet. I had one cookie (shame on me!) It's a constant temptation in the freezer that I can't bear to throw out. I thought if I have one cookie a week it wouldn't be so bad...
You are a strong woman! Samoas are my favorite!! I don't think I would have been able to do it... GOOD FOR YOU!!!
Girl Scouts should be arrested as drug dealers! Those Thin Mints, Tagalongs, etc., etc.!
But you know, it's funny how I hold these cookies up like they are some kind of gourmet nirvana. They're just processed cookies, no better than many many sold in any grocery store. I'd rather have Oreos if I really think about it. And I'd give them up forever for one batch of homemade.
But there's something about them only being offered for a few weeks a year that turns them into that most treasured of junk temptations:
The "It's Your Only Chance So It Tastes Great" treat. And if a co-worker is pushing them on you, they morph into "It Tastes Better Because It's Free" yummies. These two demon lies torment me, and can turn an otherwise unremarkable or even tasteless cookie or pastry or candy into an irresistable dessert.
So congratulations, msmeg1984, on sticking with your plan and overcoming that insensitive (cruel?) coworker! And susanlanier, if you can eat just one, that's something to enjoy and be proud of! I couldn't have them in the house, they would whisper my name over and over, until I devoured them, box and all.
OMG!! Good for you!! I ordered 4 boxes 2 months ago and they finally came in on Monday. I am having a coworker in my office hold onto them to help me control myself. I have only had 2 cookies so far and I am looking to get rid of 3 boxes!! Any takers!!?? LOL!!
Good work to you! I am sooo hoping I can get these off my hands before the weekend comes!!
This is so inspirational! Way to go!! ![]()
Good job!
I saw them selling cookies outside the grocery store the other day and it took every ounce of strength in my body to keep walking.
I waited long enough and everyone else in the office ate the whole box :)
Its interesting how easy it is to pass by the temptations when you are in the right mindset!
I so agree that it is the mindset that makes the difference! If I think "I can't control myself" - I'm right! If I think, "Those cookies won't make me happy" and then refuse to obsess on them, it's much easier to by-pass temptation...
And if I think, "I can enjoy just one and I don't want more than that" - then, surprisingly, sometimes, I can really do that! (I'm still working on this last one, it's a slippery slope with some foods).
