Depo and Getting Pregnant

My husband and I have decided we are almost ready to start trying.  I am currently on the Depo shot and have been on for 8 years.  If you have been on Depo and are trying or have gotten pregnant after stopping....

How long did it take for you to get pregnant?

My doctor says at least 1 year but I have heard some people it is as much as 3 years.  Is there any one who got pregnant right away (less then 1 year)? 

I only did one round of Depo, but I was pregnant one month after stopping.

 I have been on depo for 10 years and they told me if I ever want to have more children to see the doctor at least a year before trying to conceive. They will have to wean you off of it otherwise it can be very unpleasant. I discovered this first hand at the beginning when I though it was too expensive so I just never went to have another injection and I bled heavily for several weeks and eventually decided I would rather spend the money.

I did the Depo for almost two years and it took the length of the shot for me to get pregnant..... so I was pregnant 3 month after I should've had my next shot.

I was so afraid of not getting pregnant after depo. Well at first it was no big deal because we 'didnt want kids,' but hubby changed his mind. I was on depo for 4 years, took my last shot June of 07 and got pregnant march this year. We are 21 weeks prego with a baby girl who is kicking me as we speak!  Good luck, I hope it works out for you too!

That is great Congrats, newveggie!!!  Thank you all very much I was afraid I would need to get off it now if I wanted a kid any time in the next five years.  But now I know it may not take forever.   

My sis was on it for 5 years and it took her about 8 months.  But remember everyone is different.

I was on it for about three years and recently decided to go on the pill so that I'd be somewhat normal, my dr said about a year after the last shot is when I could get pregnant but judging by some of these other posts that could be very wrong (i'm so glad to hear that too)!

It took my period 14mths to return after stopping depo, and I have friends who've had the same trouble, but I DO believe it varies wildly from person to person? I hope you're one of the lucky ones!

It only took 3 months, without even trying to get prego. I was on it for 9 months. good luck!!!
