Depo Provera shots causing extreme weight gain?

I just wanted to know what peoples thoughts were on the shot i have gotten it in the past and it really messed thing wup for me. has anyone else had simmalar side effects .. extreem weight gain and also problems with sdeeffects after going off of it .. i am scarred that this drug has effectd me permanaintly. ?

I only took one shot of depo provera and no lie..it has ruined my body. I have always been small. I'm 5'1 and my weight has always been between 105 and 110...well thanks to the shot I now weigh 135!!! I know everyone says that the shot makes you eat more and blah blah..but I have not changed ANYTHING from my daily routine. I dance 9 hours a week, go to the gym everyother day and go on jogs with my dogs every day. When I was doing that before the shot my weight was perfect! Now from only one time use I gain this much weight its ridiculous. I go to the gym to try and burn it off but nothing seems to work. I even cut out all sugary drinks. IF anyone has any advie on how to shed these pounds plleeease let me know!

I did Depo for about 9 months.  I must have gotten lucky and didn't gain weight (however I was 17-18 at the time).  I remember the gyno weighing me and saying in shock, "Wow, you're the only person I've seen that didn't gain weight on Depo!" Regardless of the weight, I hated Depo because I had so much break through bleeding.  This caused me to quit, but it took over a year for my periods to return to normal.  So yea, I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm on the depo. I was on it for 2 years when I was 16-18, again when I was 21-23, and now at 25. The first 2 times I gained some weight.. This last  time my doc suggested the "low dose" depo, the Depo SubQ, and I haven't gained weight from this one.. and it also doesn't make me as crabby. Gotta love less hormones.
