Desire to Eat Decreasing

Quote  |  Reply

So I started on calorie count a couple weeks ago and have been doing this for approximately 3 weeks. Before I started trying to loose weight I had no idea how many calories were in certain foods and how bad some foods can actually be for you! My starting weight is 195 lb and my ultimate goal is 145 lb at a rate of about 5 lbs per month. I am currently following a 1200 cal/day system.

As i learn more about calories, how much you should be consuming in a day, where the calories are coming from etc. I find my self more and more disgusted with how I used to eat and how the foods that I could potentially put into by body can affect me.

After a couple weeks of calorie counting and eating much healthier foods and feeling really great, I hosted Thanksgiving dinner at my house and then went to another Thanksgiving dinner at my Mom's house the next day. During those 2 days I ate a lot of high fat foods and probably a lot more calories than I would like to think. The day after the second thanksgiving dinner I switched straight back to my healthier eating habits and for the entire day I felt utterly and hopelessly depressed and hungry. It seems that when I eat high fat foods, the next day I feel terribly depressed...

Lots of people say that "cheat days" are good for you but I find that they make me feel emotionally terrible the next day for seemingly no reason. I don't feel guilty about eating all those foods...I like them and know that complete and total resistance to them for me is futile!

Also, as i continue to eat this way I am finding more and more low-calorie foods that still fill me up. I am eating about 6 small meals per day but as I progress I find myself wanting to eat less and less. Yesterday I reached about 850 calories for the day and did not feel hungry again. I forced myself to reach 1200 with some healthy snacks but I felt totally stuffed afterward. I really don’t want to develop any problems with my eating habits and would like to know if anyone else feels this way.

How do you deal with these problems...any advice?

I'm exactly the same! I used to eat so much in a day and when i think about how many calories i used to consume in a day i feel ashamed. I've been calorie counting for about 6 months now and over the time my appetite has obviously got smaller. However, i find that like you i sometimes only reach 850-900kcal for the day and dont feel hungry and then force myself to eat more as i want to do this properly and healthily and dont want to be so low on calories. What i've started to do now is plan my days eating the night before, what i'm going to eat and when i'm going to eat it. The best way of eating enough calories i've found is to have a really big breakfast and try to consume as many calories i can then! plus it's my favorate meal of the day so i really enjoy it!

I don't have the problem of under eating with Calorie Count (CC). I find myself often times over eating. For me though I wasn't progressing as fast as I would like until I added 1 hour of physical activity. I think as long as you are following the main theme of no more than 2lbs per week you are pretty safe. It was tough ridding my diet completely of fat foods and high sugar foods, now if I do cheat and give my self a cookie, it doesn't feel the same way it use to when I over indulged.

I'm going to school and taking nutrition I figured I need the credit and it would be a subject I really can use some good life skills in. My professor says "Any food you eat that says on the label. Fat is converted to body fast as soon as it is digested." He also said,"The only way to burn body fat is through aerobic exercise or physical activities." A simple 1 hour walk at 270 feet per min or 3 mph would burn 298 Kcalories of which 85% would be all fat. "Fat takes a longer time to mobilize because your body use blood sugar glucose and glycogen first as energy. Workouts have to exceed 20 mins before fat burning starts."

Keep up the good work!  Smile

I am doing the same thing! The first few days I starting CC I ate like normal and found I was eating 2800+ calories a day! Way too many. Now that's I've been calories counting I'm eating around 1300-1400 a day and it's easy. My desire to eat is cut in half.

My starting weight was 185, right now I'm at 180.5 and my goal is 148.
