Getting desperate..
Im concidering to do a completely strict week this week, to see if i can speed up my weightloss. Just one week though, because i know undereating can lead to stravation mode, but it takes about 2 weeks for the body to realise its not taking in enough calories.
So should i crack the whip this week? Its kind of experimental, but i kind of want to shock my body. I've been having accidental binge days 2 times this month =(
Please halp =(
Hi there!
Well... I don't know if it's such a good idea! How many calories are you eating now and how many calories are you thinking of when you are saying 'a strict week'?
You should make sure that you do not eat less than 1200 a day. There is no if's and but's - it's the bare minimum for a woman over 21. If you are younger you must have 1500 per day. Period. No discussion. Otherwise you will be starving your body!
If you already had 2 binge days this month (September?) you should definately have a look at your daily meals and analyze what was missing and what might have lead you into binging. Or can you point out stressful situations that made you overeat?
Kick-starting your weight loss can sometimes work with alternating sinful and restrictive days. Say your daily calorie limit is 1500. Then you would eat 1700 (+200) one day and 1300 (-200) the next day. Alternating for a week.
All the best
B.
Honestly I wouldn't do it. Eating normally for you left you with 2 binge days so restricting more will most likely just set you up for a bigger binge. I agree with mermaid3011 on looking at the reason behind the binges and working to correct that... and also with alternating days.
Restricting where you're cutting lower isn't going to help especially if you do go under. I'm bad about getting in enough calories and trust me it's the easiest way to totally stall you weight loss. I went under to literally 900-1000 calories at a point last year and my steady loss just stopped. It wasn't worth it. Slow and steady is better then sporadic any day in my book.
I know it's not easy when you get frustrated but just hang in there and it'll get better.
I wouldn't recommend a strict diet. Last week I tried a strict diet that had a lot of food, but it pretty much eliminated any oils/fats/dressings - flavor, if you will. It was a lot of veggies and chicken, and it was a lot of food. A lot. Sometimes it was difficult to get eat everything, I felt so full all the time.
I lasted three days before I said screw it, and had to have pizza. And I've been eating normally for the last three days, and there were no rapid weight gains, and in fact, no change at all.
There are a couple things I would recommend, which I took away from this diet. First, plan your meals. And I don't mean down to the last calorie, but write out a plan for the week and for each meal, give yourself several options, that way you won't be limiting yourself. Second, write it down. I have a hard time with this one, but if you make an effort to write it down, you might not always eat what ever is in your hand. And most important, at least for me, is eat several meals. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack.
I bought groceries for the week and made sure I had enough fruit, veggies, and salad cut and portioned. I cooked up couple pounds of chicken breast, rice, and beans, and also portioned them. I know for me, the more convenient it is, the easier it is.
I know how you feel, desperate, and willing to go to extreme measures, but thats often the most opportunity for going overboard. And if you want that cookie, have one or two or three, just not the whole box.
Good luck.
I dont know why i binged.
My overall mealplan is ok :/
I dont feel deprived or something, i let myself eat what i want once a week.
Its just that i feel like im missing out on so much food because i have a set meal plan that i always stick to. I dont mind it at all, i love it. But i sometimes crave things i wouldnt normally eat sometimes, which leads to binges.

Then the obvious solution is to adjust your 'set meal plan' to include a few of the things you wouldn't normally eat. Love the regular food, enjoy the occasional treat more than once a week and then you really won't feel deprived and ending up bingeing. 'Flexible' meal plean is 10 x better than a 'set' meal plan. And a 'managed treat' is 10 x better than 'eating whatever you want'....
And, in that light, I agree with everyone else that being 'completely strict' is probably not what you need.
I would recommend against going on a "strict" diet. It is possible that it could work, but the risk always becomes that one can fall into deciding that a "strict" diet becomes the norm. Just patience and a mild calorie reduction for a couple of weeks would be a lot healthier, if it is necessary. I have on occasions actually done exactly what you propose, but it was experimental, and I was pretty certain that I would not continue doing it. But I will add that I actually considered staying on a strict diet to lose weight just because I found I sort of enjoyed it. And that absolutely is not healthy. And most dieters I know, most people losing weight, have an occasional "binge." A binge usually is not as bad as we make it out to be. We just need to get back on the wagon after having one.
Best of luck! You WILL succeed!!!!!!!!!!!!
